Welcome to Our Braddock ES Family, #OneFamily
Greetings, Braddock Families & Community!
As we transition into the beautiful spring season, it's a great time to remind everyone about the importance of outdoor safety.
At Braddock Elementary, we are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable environment for all our students, especially at recess time. Therefore, all classroom teachers and PE teachers will be conducting a thorough recess safety review with all classes in the coming weeks. This review will cover important topics such as:
- Playground rules and expectations
- Safe use of equipment
- Awareness of surroundings
- Appropriate behavior during outdoor activities
Please help us by reinforcing these safety practices at home, so that together we can create a safer environment for our students. Our goal is to avoid preventable injuries like broken arms and other accidents.
Thank you for your partnership in keeping our students safe. We look forward to a wonderful and safe spring season!

Sincerely With Warmest Regards,

Students who are fasting during the school day between now and March 28 can take school meal kits home at the end of the day. Families must fill out a separate request form for each week and for each student in order to receive school meal kits. To receive meal kits for the week of March 24, please fill out this form by March 17.
Please remind your child to pick up their meals each day at our school’s designated location. Visit the Food and Nutrition Services webpage for more information, including weekly request forms and deadlines.

Friday, March 28, is the last day of the third quarter. It is a full day of school for students. All FCPS schools and offices are closed on Monday, March 31, for Eid al-Fitr. Tuesday, April 1, is a student holiday and teacher workday. See the complete school year calendar.
Fifty FCPS school buses now feature stop-arm cameras to capture drivers illegally passing stopped buses. Beginning April 9th, warnings will be issued for 30 days, followed by citations starting May 12th. Virginia law mandates drivers stop for flashing red lights and extended stop signs on school buses, regardless of direction, unless a barrier separates traffic. This initiative, in partnership with law enforcement, aims to enhance student safety during bus stops.

FCPS is committed to providing all students and families with a Safe, Welcoming, and Inclusive space. It is important to know that schools will not collect or maintain any information on the citizenship or immigration status of students or their families. For more information, contact us at 703-914-7300 OR scan the QR code below.
Every family should have a Family Preparedness Plan in case of an emergency. It is critical for immigrant families to think ahead and set more concrete plans for immigration emergencies that can arise. For example, this Resource Toolkit goes into detail about different childcare options available in case of an absent parent, where to find trusted immigration services in your community, and how to prepare to assert your constitutional rights in the presence of an immigration officer.
