A Note from the Principal

Dear Daniels Run Families,

As the first hints of spring begin to emerge, there's a renewed sense of energy and possibility in the air. It's been a beautiful week, perfect for outdoor activities, and a wonderful time to look forward to what lies ahead.

March 28th marks an important day as we conclude the quarter and capture memories with spring picture day. Shortly after, on March 31st, we will enjoy a school holiday before diving into a teacher workday on April 1st. This day will also host a kindergarten information session and a community clean-up event at Daniels Run — more details on these activities can be found below.

Our dedicated staff has been honing their volleyball skills in preparation for the friendly match against Providence Elementary School. We are also happy to announce that April 6th will be Daniels Run Day at the George Mason baseball game. We encourage everyone to join in the festivities and show your school spirit!

Kindest regards,

Susan Mullen, Principal

Daniels Run Elementary School

Reminder for Parents: Morning Drop-Off Policy

We’ve noticed an increase in students being dropped off after 9:00 AM. Please remember that per school policy, any student arriving after 9:00 AM must be accompanied by a parent or guardian into the building and signed in as late.

This ensures a safe and smooth start to the school day for all students. Thank you for your cooperation in following this important procedure!

P2 News

Dear Families,

Next week, our community will focus on an important life skill: emotional regulation! It's about helping them understand and manage their feelings in healthy ways, rather than suppressing them. Think of it as teaching them how to steer their own emotional ship. Strong emotional regulation can lead to better friendships, improved focus in school, and increased resilience when facing challenges.

We'll be sharing tips with students this week on recognizing their feelings, understanding how emotions feel in their bodies, and practicing calming techniques. You can support this at home by encouraging your child to name their emotions ("I see you're feeling frustrated"), validating their feelings ("It's okay to feel sad when..."), and modeling healthy coping strategies yourself. By working together, we can equip our kids with the tools they need to navigate the emotional ups and downs of childhood and beyond!

Thank you for your support!
