Dear Belle View Families,
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
"May your troubles be less and your blessings be more. And nothing but happiness come through your door".
Please see the PTA updates below. We have a few positions that we will need to fill for 2025-2026 and beyond. Belle View is such an amazing community, and we have so many resources thanks to the efforts of our PTA and families that volunteer for school events, fundraising opportunities and afterschool enrichment. If you have the time and want to make a difference, we are seeking the positions of president, corresponding secretary, and PV of Fundraising.
Have a wonderful week and thank you for your continued partnership!
Proud Principal,
Katie Pluntke

FCPS will offer a new Montessori program in the West Potomac pyramid. The program will begin in the 2025-26 school year, starting with multi-age classrooms at the pre-K and kindergarten levels.
The program will be located at Bucknell Elementary School. Families of 3, 4, and 5 year olds are invited to apply through a lottery process. Eligible families must have a verified residence in the West Potomac pyramid — Belle View, Fort Hunt, Groveton, Hollin Meadows, Hybla Valley, Stratford Landing, or Waynewood elementary schools. The program is free and transportation will be provided.
The Montessori method helps kids become curious, creative, and excited to learn for the rest of their lives. In a Montessori classroom, the whole room is set up to help students learn using Montessori-specific hands-on materials. Students have a lot of choice in their learning, which helps them stay motivated and become more independent.
One special feature of the Montessori approach is having children of multiple ages in one classroom. Children learn valuable social skills — such as cooperation and empathy — through interactions with peers of different ages. Additionally, the multi-age environment allows students to learn at their own pace, while developing a sense of community. The Montessori classroom is carefully organized with hands-on materials, encouraging students to explore and work independently.
The lottery application for the 2025-26 school year Montessori program at Bucknell Elementary School will be available Monday, March 10, through Thursday, May 1, 2025. Families may learn more about the program and apply for the lottery at www.fcps.edu/montessori.

Attendance Matters - Even Tardiness
We are seeing an increase in the number of students with unexcused tardies. At Belle View, students are expected to be inside by 9:10 am. Some effects of being late to school include:
- Missing out on important learning: It's like walking in late to a movie and you're confused about what the plot is.
- Embarrassment
- Disrupting the learning of the rest of the class
- Receiving fewer hours of instruction
- Establishing bad punctuality habits
- Negatively impacting future work ethic and employment opportunities
Thank you for working to ensure your child is at school before 9:10 am.
