Welcome to Our Braddock ES Family, #OneFamily

Greetings, Braddock Families & Community!

keesha

This week, our students participated in the Midyear Students Rights & Responsibilities (SR&R) Town Hall Assembly. This assembly served as an important refresher on our school's expectations and commitment to creating a positive learning environment.

During the assembly, students reviewed our Braddock Promise: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. We discussed how these principles guide our behavior and interactions within our school community.

We also reinforced academic and behavior expectations, ensuring students understand what is required for success. Additionally, we highlighted the critical role of daily attendance in achieving academic goals.

We believe this assembly provided a crucial opportunity for students to reflect on their responsibilities and understand how their actions contribute to our thriving school environment.

Thank you for your continued support in reinforcing these important values at home.

Sincerely With Warmest Regards,

Keesha Jackson-Muir, Principal

National Women’s History Month

Every year, March is designated Women’s History Month by presidential proclamation. The month is set aside to honor women’s contributions in American history. Learn more about the heritage months, celebrations, and traditions celebrated in FCPS. Read more about Women’s History Month in National Geographic Kids.

Daylight Saving Begins (Spring Forward)

Sunday, March 9, at 2 a.m., daylight saving time begins. Don’t forget to move your clocks ahead one hour! As a result of the time change, many students will be walking to school or to bus stops in the dark. Help your child stay safe by having them wear reflective clothing and bright or light colors, or add reflective items to their backpacks or clothes. Also, encourage your child to be especially alert for cars that are turning or backing up and not to run into the street or cross between parked cars.

Fasting Meal Kits Available for Braddock Students (Feb 28 - Mar 28, 2025)

Braddock students fasting during the school day can request take-home breakfast and lunch meal kits from February 28 to March 28, 2025. These refrigerated kits, based on the school menu, require heating at home. Students may receive one breakfast and one lunch daily and must pick up their own kits after school—adults cannot collect them. Parents/guardians must submit a weekly request form via the FCPS FNS website by the following deadlines:

  • March 10 for the week of March 17
  • March 17 for the week of March 24

Step-By-Step Family Preparedness Plan

Every family should have a Family Preparedness Plan in case of an emergency. It is critical for immigrant families to think ahead and set more concrete plans for immigration emergencies that can arise. For example, this Resource Toolkit goes into detail about different childcare options available in case of an absent parent, where to find trusted immigration services in your community, and how to prepare to assert your constitutional rights in the presence of an immigration officer.
