Science in the Spotlight
Students across grade levels have been using their collaboration and critical-thinking skills to work through science and technology challenges. Ms. Brusick's 3rd graders participated in hands-on experiments as they explored liquid capacity, while Ms. Shipley's 2nd graders used everyday materials to design and build race cars that they could move with magnets.

Would you like to learn more about Lane's science and math programs? Please join us for Family Math and STEAM Night on Thursday, March 27! See the article below for more information.

Ash Wednesday Marks Beginning of Christian Holy Period
Last Wednesday, March 5, was Ash Wednesday, a holy day of prayer and fasting in many Western Christian denominations. It marks the beginning of Lent, a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving leading up to Easter. Many Christians attend special Ash Wednesday church services, at which churchgoers receive ashes on their foreheads as a sign of penance. Ash Wednesday derives its name from this practice.
