This year's Outstanding Employees were nominated by community members and peers and selected by a White Oaks committee earlier this year. Congratulations to Suzanne Gowe, Outstanding Professional Employee, Edith Giffear, Outstanding Teacher, and Patty Onks, Outstanding Operational Employee. We are fortunate to have these outstanding employees serving our community at White Oaks. We will celebrate them and all the nominees at our staff meeting on Friday, March 14th.
  
Monday, March 10th is a 3 hour early dismissal at White Oaks. This early release is for staff development as our teachers complete required VA Literacy training. Students may stay at school to be supervised for families who need to pick up children at the normal time. If we have not heard from families, students will stay and not be released three hours early. Remaining 3-hour early release days are April 21st and May 12th.

The Spring Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener will be administered to students in grades 3-6 between the dates of March 10th and March 28th. Students use the SEL Screener twice a year to share their perspectives on how well their school and community help them develop skills they need to succeed. The screener works by asking questions or presenting statements that students can think about and respond to. Join us on Friday, April 4, 2025 at the Lake Braddock Gym for the annual 6th Grade vs. Faculty Basketball Game. Come cheer on your favorite 6th grade player, White Oaks Faculty/Staff member, or both. Fifth graders, come observe and get ready for your chance at glory next year! Tickets are $10 pre-sale or $12 at the door. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the game starts at 7:00 p.m. This is NOT a drop-off event and all students must be accompanied by an adult.
The Sixth Grade Committee will be selling a limited quantity of pizza by the slice only and other concessions at the event, but you can pre-order a large pizza for an even better deal! The deadline for pizza pre-orders is 12 p.m. on Thursday, April 3. No late orders will be accepted.
