Dear Cardinal Families,
What a truly wonderful week it has been at Cunningham Park! We just wrapped up our Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Week, and our students engaged in activities that nurtured their hearts and minds. We are so grateful for the dedication and enthusiasm our entire school community showed this week, and I want to extend a huge thank you to Ms. Lujan, for organizing such a meaningful and impactful experience. The week was filled with opportunities for students to practice gratitude, explore positive affirmations, embrace mindfulness, and get their bodies moving.
Sunday, March 9, at 2 a.m., daylight saving time begins. Don’t forget to move your clocks ahead one hour! As a result of the time change, many students will be walking to school or to bus stops in the dark. Help your child stay safe by having them wear reflective clothing and bright or light colors, or add reflective items to their backpacks or clothes. Also, encourage your child to be especially alert for cars that are turning or backing up and not to run into the street or cross between parked cars.
Warmly,
Allison Hoak, Principal
Jon Kemmerer, Assistant Principal
📅March 17, 2025 - 3 Hour Early Release
Another 3-hour early release will happen on Monday, March 17, 2025. Emails will be sent to each student's family next week reminding you of your selection for our early release days. Please set a reminder for this day on your phone and ensure that you and your child know your family's dismissal plan. Call the main office at 703-255-5600 if you need to change your plan by Friday, March 14, 2025.
💻Lightspeed - Student Internet Access Report
FCPS has partnered with Lightspeed for internet content filtering. Parents/Guardians can get information about their child's activity on their FCPS laptop. Sign up to receive a weekly Parent Report from Lightspeed, our internet content filtering service, which will provide a list of the top sites the child visited that week.
Parents/caregivers may register their children online for kindergarten through 12th grade. Learn how to begin the online registration process. When registering, you will need to create or log in to an existing SIS ParentVUE account.
Kindergarten Orientation will be announced at a later date. If you have any questions regarding registration, please reach out to Nicole Madariaga at njmadariaga@fcps.edu or 703-255-5600.

Families are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, however, space is limited and provided based on need, not “first come, first serve.” Applications are accepted online, by email, by postal mail, or in person at our office at 7423 Camp Alger Avenue, Falls Church, Virginia 22042.
