Parent Coffee: Navigating Your Child's Educational Journey
Based on feedback from our Family Engagement Survey, we heard that parents want more support in making key decisions about their child’s education. In response, we are hosting a special Parent Coffee on Friday, March 14th, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM in the school library.
Guest speakers Steven Myers, Educational Specialist for Academic & Career Planning, and Thaisa York, Counselor at Longfellow Middle School, will share insights on academic advising, postsecondary planning, and how families can support their children in exploring their strengths, interests, and future opportunities. The session will conclude with a Q&A. We hope you can join us!

Chesterbrook Preschool Peer Model Enrollment Interest
We are in the process of registering students to be peer models in Early Childhood Class Based Preschool for next school year. Our program will invite a limited number of community preschoolers, who are age 4-5 years (must be at least 4 years old by September, 30 of school year), to participate in our daily preschool activities. The children from the community will have the opportunity to make new friends and share experiences with current early childhood special education students. Our students will, in turn, benefit from being with community peers who can model appropriate language, motor, and social skills.
The goal of this program is to encourage active learning and promote social interaction and acceptance through shared experiences between the community children and our preschoolers with special needs. Parents will need to provide transportation for their student.
Our Preschool hours for this year are Monday - Friday as follows:
AM Preschool 9:20 am - 12:40 pm
PM Preschool 12:45 pm – 4:05 pm
Please complete this form if you are interested: Preschool Community Peers Program Interest

Three Hour Early Release Monday Reminders
On Monday, March 17th, we will dismiss at 1:05 pm
Playground and Staying On School Premises:
On 3 hour early release days, school remains in session for students staying until 4:05 pm. To ensure these students' safety, we ask that parents and students who dismiss at 1:05 do not remain on school grounds including the playground, basketball court, blacktop, field, etc. We use these spaces in our plan for the students who remain with us until the 4:05 dismissal time.
Additionally, after-school clubs and events that plan to take place on school grounds on early release Mondays require prior approval from the principal. Any students who dismissed at 1:05 or adults on school property between 1:05 and 4:05 will be asked to leave. Thank you for partnering with us to keep our students safe!
Remaining 3 Hour Early Release Dates:
The dates for the remaining three hour release Mondays are as follows: 4/28 and 5/19. These early release Mondays provide time for our teachers to complete up to 27 hours of literacy instruction training required by the Virginia Literacy Act.
The FCPS CARES Program allows parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees who go above and beyond to help others and show they care about their students, colleagues, and the community. We invite you to submit a story below to acknowledge the great work of an FCPS employee or group of employees who should receive FCPS CARES recognition.
🏫Developing a Strong Academic Foundation, Curiosity, and Joy for Learning
The FCPS Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Advertised Budget invests in academic growth and excellence for each and every student, which is one of the priorities of the FCPS Strategic Plan.
A strong start for every student is Goal 1 of the Strategic Plan. Pre-K classrooms are making a difference in our community. In this video, we explore the importance of bringing children under the age of five together, regardless of abilities.
💬 Share Your Input on the County Budget
The Fairfax County government presented its Fiscal Year 2026 Advertised Budget Plan to the Board of Supervisors on February 18. The community is invited to share feedback through an online survey, email, phone calls, or by attending Budget Town Hall meetings.
