Student Fasting Meal Kits for February 28 - March 28, 2025

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has issued a new, first-time waiver allowing students fasting during the school day from February 28 to March 28, 2025, to request take-home breakfast and lunch meal kits. The Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) will provide meal kits reflecting the school menu. Meals will be kept cold and must be heated at home.

Students may claim one breakfast and one lunch kit per day. If a student purchases breakfast or lunch at school, they cannot pick up a kit that day. Meal kits must be picked up by students at the end of the school day—adults cannot collect them.

Parents or guardians must submit a weekly request form via the FCPS FNS website by the deadlines:

  1. March 10, 2025, for the week of March 17, 2025
  2. March 17, 2025, for the week of March 24, 2025

Please submit forms on time to receive meal kits for the following week.

Spelling Bee Winners

Congratulations to our Cooper Spelling Bee champion, Henry K!  A big hand as well to Isabella O, who placed second, Luke L, who took third, and Andrew D, who took fourth. Winners took home a trophy and a gift card from Scrawl Books in Reston.

We’re so proud of all 30 students who participated in last Thursday’s PTO-funded Cooper Spelling Bee. Let’s all cheer on Henry as he advances to represent Cooper at the official FCPS Scripps Regional Spelling Bee on Sunday, March 23rd.

A huge thanks to Mr. Buckley and Mr. Holman, who used 3D printers to create our winners’ trophies, and to Scrawl Books, who generously donated gift cards.
