What a wonderful week and celebration we had last week with Read Across America Week. It was capped off with our annual kindergarten Book Character Parade. Thank you to all families who came out!
As a reminder, our next early release is on Monday, March 17th at 12:30 pm. Families should have received an email yesterday confirming how and when their child is being dismissed. If there are any changes, please contact sebrown@fcps.edu by 4:00 pm on Friday, March 14th.

2nd Grade Gallery of Heroes
Second grade classes present a "Gallery of Heroes" exhibition to celebrate Black History Month. Students learned about a wide variety of African-Americans who shaped history then presented their findings to the class.
World Down Syndrome Day
Friday, March 21st is World Down Syndrome Day. Students and staff are encouraged to wear mismatched socks.
Kindergarten Registration and Orientation

Save the Date!
Union Mill’s Kindergarten Orientation for rising Kindergarteners is right around the corner! Join us on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 2:45 – 3:45 p.m.
Online Registration is now open for new-to-FCPS students for the 2025-26 school year. You can register through your existing ParentVUE account, or create an account (new-to-FCPS parents only). Details are available here: www.fcps.edu/onlin-registration. Our Registrar, Catherine Dubas, is happy to process registrations directly, as well. Please contact her at cmdubas@fcps.edu and be ready to provide your family’s address and rising kindergartener’s date of birth. Mrs. Dubas will respond with registration details and documents necessary to start the process. Please don’t wait until summer to register your kindergarteners.
Spring Book Fair April 21-25th!

Due to spring break, we will set up the book fair the morning of April 21st. Thank you, we could not run our book fair without the help of our volunteers!
Volunteers Needed
Union Mill families, we need your help! We are looking for volunteers to support our Calm Cafe during lunch blocks. Your presence can make a big difference in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable lunchtime experience for our students. If you’re available to lend a hand, even for a short time, we would love to have you!

Order Your Yearbook Now!

It's time to order your 2024-2025 yearbook! Families may place orders at www.buytheyearbook.com (with school ID# 725178). Yearbooks are $15.70 each.
So far, only 362 yearbooks have been purchased. Don't miss your chance to order a yearbook as there will not be extras available at the end of the year.
The deadline to order is April 22, 2025.
Early Release Mondays
As a reminder, the Centreville Pyramid, which includes Union Mill Elementary, will have the following three-hour early release days. On these days, students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m.

Membership
PTA Memberships are only good for one year. Members get PTA information first, discounts and benefits at PTA-sponsored events, and are the first to know about volunteer opportunities at the school!

Membership is only $15/year for a family and $7.50/year for an individual or staff member and shows you value our school community - students, staff and your fellow parents and caregivers.
