 Dear Cardinal Forest Community,
We continue to partner with the Fairfax County Police Department, Cardinal Forest Homeowners Association, and the Fairfax County Public Schools Office of Safety and Security to support safe routes to school.
With that in mind, we will be making an adjustment to drop off and pick-up beginning this Friday, March 7. At that time, there will no longer be patrols, staff, or cones at Royal Ridge Drive. This is not an approved location for student drop off or pick up.
There will continue to be an increased law enforcement presence on Forrester Blvd. during arrival and dismissal. Drivers who park in no parking zones or make illegal U-turns on Forrester Blvd. may be issued a traffic summons or parking citation. Police will have discretion, as enforcement on private property (HOA property )is different than enforcement on the state maintained roads around the school.
You must use Kiss and Ride if your child is not walking or riding the bus. If you need a Kiss & Ride car number, please contact the front office.
A few reminders:
* Crosswalk Safety: Always use crosswalks when walking to and from school. * Parking: Avoid parking in residential areas. Please use Kiss & Ride for drop-off and pick-up. Do not park or enter the bus loop during arrival and dismissal. You should park in the side lot or on legal parking spaces on the street. * Royal Ridge Parking: To ensure safety and maintain positive neighborly relations, please refrain from parking in spaces in and off Royal Ridge.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to keeping our community safe.
Sincerely,
Felicia Drake Principal Cardinal Forest ES

Ramadan Mubarak to those in our community who observe! In Islam, Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year. During this month Muslims abstain from food and drink from dawn to sunset each day while striving to increase their spirituality, through prayers, charity, and good deeds. Muslims believe it was during this month that God revealed the first verses of the Holy Quran to Prophet Muhammad. #OurFCPS |
National Women's History Month
Every year, March is designated Women’s History Month by presidential proclamation. The month is set aside to honor women’s contributions in American history. VDH Immunization Packets for Rising 7th Graders
As required by the Code of Virginia, parents or legal guardians need to provide proof of immunizations for their child to attend public school. All students entering seventh grade are required to receive one dose of each of the following immunizations:
- Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis booster (Tdap) given at age 7 or older.
- Meningococcal vaccine (MenACWY) given at age 10 or older.
- A complete series of 2 doses of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine.
- After reviewing educational materials approved by the Board of Health, the parent or guardian, at the parents/guardians sole discretion, may elect for the child not to receive the HPV vaccine.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to plan ahead by scheduling an appointment with their child’s health care provider now to avoid the rush this summer. If your child does not have a health care provider, please visit the FCPS Immunizations Resource page to find out where to get an immunization.
Please review the Virginia Department of Health Information Packet for more information on rising 7th grade immunization requirements.
