BASKETBALL BASKETBALL BASKETBALL!
Hello Fairhill Families!
What a great week we’re having at Fairhill! Today, we hosted our Parent Coffee with the Principal from Luther Jackson Middle School. It was wonderful to hear about life for our current and future Tigers!
Now that Parent Coffee is behind us, we can fully focus on our PTA and Fairhill Basketball Game this Friday! This is one of the most special events of the year, and we hope you’ll join us at Oakton High School for a fun night of basketball. See below for more details!

Month of the Military Child
April is the Month of the Military Child, a time to honor and celebrate the resilience, courage, and contributions of FCPS military-connected children.
To show our support, FCPS and Fairhill will celebrate Purple Up! Day on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. On this day, school staff and students are encouraged to wear purple, symbolizing unity and support for military families across all service branches.
Celebrating the Month of the Military Child provides a powerful opportunity to raise awareness and build support to help these children meet the unique challenges they face! It is an opportunity to recognize and thank military children and youth for their heroism, character, courage, sacrifices, and continued resilience.
Order your FCPS Purple Up! t-shirt and/or hoodie by March 7th using this Custom Ink link.
Let’s celebrate our military kids on April 9th and make FCPS purple!
Thank you for continuing to support our military-connected kids.

Help Us Erase Student Lunch Debt
Please consider donating to eliminate school lunch debt through our Educate Fairfax platform. All donations are tax deductible; you will receive a receipt for tax deduction purposes.
CALLING FOR VOLUNTEERS: HELP TO MAKE BIG DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY
The Fairhill PTA again will continue to support Fairhill families and our broader local community by collecting unused food purchased from the cafeteria (e.g., milk, string cheese) and/or unopened store bought food (e.g., crackers) during the spring semester
Our kids' role -> Kids are asked to leave food they may otherwise toss in the garbage and instead put it off in the Food for Others fridge in the cafeteria.
Our volunteers' role -> Once a week (Mondays or Tuesdays), we are asking for a volunteer to collect the food and drop it off at Food For Others (1 mile away).
Our collective Impact -> In addition to minimizing food waste, we are helping 75,000 Fairfax County (and Fairhill families) who are food insecure. On a weekly basis last year, we collected hundreds of milk cartons, string cheese packets, crackers, yoghurts and more.
Sign up here to volunteer! Questions???? Call/text//email Anika Marpaka (anikaamin@yahoo.com or 703 855 0500)

Student Fasting Meal Kits for February 28 - March 28, 2025
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has issued a new, first-time waiver allowing students fasting during the school day from February 28 to March 28, 2025, to request take-home breakfast and lunch meal kits. The Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) will provide meal kits reflecting the school menu. Meals will be kept cold and must be heated at home. Students may claim one breakfast and one lunch kit per day. If a student purchases breakfast or lunch at school, they cannot pick up a kit that day. Meal kits must be picked up by students at the end of the school day—adults cannot collect them. Parents or guardians must submit a weekly request form via the FCPS FNS website by the deadlines:
- March 10, 2025, for the week of March 17, 2025
- March 17, 2025, for the week of March 24, 2025
*Forms must be submitted on time to receive meal kits for the following week.
