Rising 8th Grade Academic Advising Information
At this time, all students should have 2025-26 SY courses entered in ParentVUE/SIS. All parents should review their student’s course requests in Parent VUE by clicking the “Course Request” tab. Email your student’s LHMS counselor to request a change. The deadline to request a change is March 11.
Rising 9th Grade Academic Advising Information - South Lakes High School
The following information is for current 8th graders who will be attending South Lakes High School during the 2025-26 SY. March 11th is the deadline to change course selections for next year. You can see your course selections in StudentVUE under Course Requests. Please check your course requests since now is also the time to correct any errors that may have occurred during Academic Advising. No elective changes will be made after March 11th, including next fall. There will be a short window this May to change a level of a core course if space is available- regular/IB/honors, but you will not be able to change courses. Email your student’s LHMS counselor to request a change by March 11.

Summer of Learning and Fun
Registration is open or will be available soon for summer camps and learning opportunities offered by Fairfax County Public Schools for all students.
Career and Technical Education and Institute for the Arts Summer Camps
Career and Technical Education camps and Institute for the Arts camps will be held in July at Lake Braddock Secondary School from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bus transportation will be available from select FCPS middle and high schools. Registration begins for these programs on Monday, March 10, and ends Friday, June 6.
CTE Summer Academy (CSA) is a week-long enrichment program that allows students in grades 6-11 to dive deeper into CTE program areas, develop skills, and begin career exploration.
IFTA is a two- or three-week summer enrichment program for students currently in grades 6-11. Students select from nearly 90 classes in art, dance, music, and theater.
