Athletes of The Week

Congratulations to the following athletes for earning AOTW for the week of February 10th!

Danny Saunders *Swim

Danny broke HHS 20 year old yard 100 yard breaststroke record at the Regional Swim Tournament. Danny 200 IM, 100 BR. He will be advancing to States, where he could improve his personal best/record.

Evelyn Cherry * Track & Field 

Evelyn’s performance at this past week’s Regional Championship on February 13th showcased her athleticism and her versatility.

Evelyn ‘s performance in the Long Jump was 16’-7.5” placing 4th at Regionals.        

Her Triple Jump was 33’ placing 7th at Regionals.          

And Evelyn’s main event the Pole Vault she vaulted 9’-6” placing 3rd overall and qualifying for the VHSL State Group 6 meet.

These 3 events were all on the same day and she even qualified in the 55H for Regionals, but decided not to compete in that event to focus on her field events.

2025 Winter Sports Awards Night 3/10/2025 6pm Cafeteria**

The 2024-2025 winter awards night will be held on Monday, March 10th

          @ 6pm in the cafeteria. Individual program awards to follow!

Hall of Fame

The Herndon High School Sports Hall of Fame is back up and accepting nominations!

In order to be considered for the Herndon Athletic Hall of Fame an application must be submitted. If you know of somebody you wish to be considered, please have them fill out this form or you can fill it out on their behalf. It is important that you provide their contact information and as much information as possible regarding their athletic accomplishments in high school, college, and professional athletics as well as any civic or professional awards they may have received.

Eligibility criteria:

  • A former Herndon coach or athletic support person who has retired
  • A Herndon athlete that graduated at least 10 years ago 
  • A nominee must receive 70% of the HOF Committee's votes to gain election     
  • A nominee's form will remain active for 5 years (if they don't get voted in).
  • After 5 years, another form will have to be submitted
