 THANK YOU to our generous and amazing PTA and SVES families for treating us to a delicious taco luncheon! Not only did we enjoy a fantastic lunch, but many of us even got to take home leftovers for dinner. The thoughtful décor, food, and drinks were truly appreciated.

Students who participated in winter testing will receive two PDF documents as part of winter growth reporting. All winter growth reporting documents are expected to be posted in PVUE/School Data Tools by Friday, March 7.

VALLSS reports for grades K-3 are redesigned to include an explanation with results from both fall and winter all on one page.
- New iReady growth reports for grades 1-6 come with a new academic growth cover letter explaining the report. Families receive the cover letter plus one page for each iReady test, reading and/or math.

SLHS' International Night will include performances, interactive booths, food, a fashion show, and more! We want to celebrate all of the wonderful and unique culture we have in the greater Reston community. We would like to invite your school’s community to participate in our International Night this year. Use the QR code to sign-up. Community members are welcome to participate in International Night individually or as a member of a larger school/community organization. You can sign-up to host a culture/food booth, perform, or even participate in our fashion show! Even if you can’t participate, you are welcome to attend and enjoy everything the Reston community has to offer.
Grade-level play dates in March are in full swing. Kindergarteners and 1st graders met up last weekend. This weekend's playdates are noted below. All start at 11:30am, and everyone will meet at the Sunrise Valley playground.
- Saturday, March 8 - 2nd grade
- Sunday, March 9 - 3rd grade
- Saturday, March 15 - 4th grade
- Sunday, March 16 - 5th grade
We're still looking for parents in each grade to take the lead organizing these playdates.

All Sunrise Valley students and families are invited to attend the Sunrise Valley + Fox Mill Basketball Challenge at South Lakes High School this Friday, March 14. Doors open at 5:30pm, event starts at 6:00pm. Come cheer on Sunrise Valley as our students and teachers take on Fox Mill, while our Pep Squad and Cheer Team perform rocking dance numbers. Don’t miss this annual school-wide tradition filled with fun, food, and friendly competition.

Families, educators, and community members are invited to the 2025 FCPS Family Summit: Beyond Labels: Nurturing a Culture of Belonging, hosted by Fairfax County Public Schools in collaboration with our valued community partners. It will be held Saturday, March 15, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at South Lakes High School.
This free in-person event will feature:
- Opening Session: Julie Causton and Kristie Pretti-Frontczak — best-selling authors, motivational speakers, and advocates for inclusion — will share practical tools and evidence-based strategies to empower and assist all families, with a special emphasis on parents of students with Individual Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans.
- Breakout Sessions: Learn more about special education and topics that benefit all families.
- Student Showcase: Our FCPS students share their efforts in fostering inclusivity through posters, essays, videos, songs, art, etc.
- Exhibitor Hall: Discover valuable resources and services available in the community to support families.
- Networking Opportunities: Connect with other families, staff, and community partners.
Childcare will be provided: Special education staff will be available to care for children with high support needs. You can sign up for childcare when you register for the summit.
