Next week is Read Across America week. During this week, schools and libraries across the country celebrate the love of reading. National SEL day also falls during this week. This is a day to support children’s social and emotional well-being. We’ve blended these two events into a week-long BMP celebration. Here are our spirit days for March 3-7:
Motivational Monday - SELebrate reading by wearing a shirt with a positive message that promotes kindness.
Triumphant Tuesday - SELebrate your future by dressing like the successful person and leader you want to be.
Work It Out Wednesday - Wear athletic clothing or sportswear to SELebrate how you can work out problems.
Thriving Thursday - SELebrate that reading is for everyone by wearing rainbow or BRIGHT colors, sparkles, sequins, or tie-dye to show how YOU shine and sparkle!
Furry Friend Friday - SELebrate reading by wearing your pajamas to school. Bring a small stuffed animal to school and cozy up with a good book.
Happy Reading!!
What: Encapsulation (Critical and Creative Thinking)
Encapsulation is an important communication skill as well as processing strategy for students as they synthesize content. It supports convergent thinking as students name and notice big ideas.
As students work towards encapsulating ideas, we have had students create an elevator speech, generate/sort/synthesize, or write tweets or hashtags related to lessons in multiple subjects.
For example: Why is it important to celebrate Holidays (Students provide one clear statement and support with three pieces of evidence).
At Home Connection: Make a Hashtag or Tweet about Holidays and the importance of celebrating them. Take a picture and share it with me at yfwilliams@fcps.edu

Are you interested in being on a Renovation Purchasing Decision Committee? Staff and families who express interest will be invited to sit in on sales pitches around different school-based design decisions, such as student desks and chairs, office seating, etc. They will share their feedback and recommendation on styles, colors, design and overall preferred purchases. Input will be taken into consideration for the final decision-making. Much of this will take place on different days throughout the summer months; it would be ok if an interested person could not attend all of the presentations.
If you are interested in being considered for this opportunity, please email Principal Williams.

Before coming to FCPS, I worked as an ABA Therapist, doing clinical work at a private practice in Loudoun County. I have a BS in Early Childhood Education and a M.Ed in education. I love to bake, spend time with family, and go on nature hikes with my Siberian Husky, Londyn Blue.
