Message from the Principal

Dear Langley Families,

We have had a great week at Langley. I was happy to see so many of our students and teachers heavily engaged in their classes and study. I am continually impressed with the passion of our teachers and staff and the fantastic talent of our students.

Class of 2025

Senior families should have received our February Senior letter by email on Friday. It contains a great deal of important information on Senior events over the coming months and details on Graduation – Please review it carefully. It will also be posted for students in the Class or 2025 Schoology page.

Parking

We have issued more than 150 tickets over the past two weeks, and this continues to be a problem. Students with multiple tickets will have conversations with their Assistant Principal, and parents will be contacted. We will continue to ticket vehicles without permits and begin towing vehicles with numerous tickets.

Arrivals

Please continue to use the Kiss and Ride system to drop off and pick up your students, as the parking lot is not a safe or appropriate alternative. I encourage you to move up as close to Door #14 for student drop-off, ensuring a smooth and safe process.

I wanted to thank our PTSA for the wonderful staff luncheon last week. It was a wonderful event, and everyone enjoyed it. This is just another element that makes Langley so special. Thank You!

Have a great long weekend. Be prepared for possible weather delays early in the week. Thank you for all that you do for our students.

Mr. Stroud

Student Attendance Reporting

  • All Day Absences: The Attendance feature in ParentVUE is the FCPS secure web solution for reporting all day absences.

Partial Absence: To report late arrivals, early dismissals, or to update already submitted attendance, please email  LangleyHSAttendance@fcps.edu.

How to Report an Absence Through ParentVUE

1

Please send a note with the student, instructing them to take it directly to the attendance office. They will receive a pass to be excused from class at the time you’ve indicated. It is the student's responsibility to leave class promptly at the stated time.

If your student does not have a note, you may sign in and go to the attendance office to check them out in person. Please understand that it may take up to 30 minutes for the check-out process if it is unexpected.

Please note we are unable to accommodate last-minute early releases after 2:30 p.m.

College Partnership Program

Do you have a student between grades 8 through 11 who wants to go to college? If so, they should consider applying to the College Partnership Program (CPP), which offers support from exploration to application! The deadline to apply is February 28, 2025.

CPP offers programming to help prepare students and families from 9th grade all the way through applying to and enrolling in college, including:

  •  Academic counseling
  • College visits
  • Help with completing college and scholarship applications
  • Monthly meetings
  • A summer overnight experience on a college campus
  • News and information related to colleges and careers via Schoology

All students are eligible and encouraged to apply to this program, and are expected to meet the following requirements:

  • Maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher in core classes
  •  Attend monthly CPP meetings
  •  Are willing to pursue advanced coursework
  • Demonstrate leadership in school or community activities

The goal of the program is to systematically mitigate the impact of barriers to access and opportunity, and support students who are from populations that are historically underrepresented on college campuses. This includes students who are the first in their family to attend college in the U.S., Multilingual learners, students who are economically disadvantaged, and students with disabilities.
