Thank you to the Hayfield Elementary School Counselors, Marvin Jones and Erin Smith, for your many contributions to helping our students succeed!

This week, February 3-7, is National School Counseling Week, and highlights the tremendous impact school counselors have in helping students achieve academic success and planning for a career.  School counselors work with students in a variety of different capacities, whether it is through classroom lessons, group sessions, or individual counseling.  Learn more about the role of school counselors in FCPS.

Scholastic Book Fiar

The Nearly Cashless Scholastic Book Fair comes to our school from March 10th- 14th to share the newest books and other exciting learning products with our young readers. Parents, family members, and teachers will find plenty of items of interest to them as well. The fair is open each day from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. On Friday, we close at 1:00 to pack up.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Students will preview the Book Fair on March 10th and come home with a wish list for a few things they would like to get.  Adults are invited to come anytime during the week to browse and/or make purchases.  Adults may pull their child out of lunch to purchase books with them. If adults are unable to attend but would still like their child to purchase something, they may sign their child up for an eWallet account or send in cash.

We are NO LONGER ACCEPTING PERSONAL CHECKS due to the amounts being potentially wrong if we run out of stock. We STRONGLY RECOMMEND signing your child up for an eWallet account. Cash gets lost, eWallet accounts don’t.  It is very helpful to have a list of what the student is allowed to buy, especially in the primary grades. Click the following link for more detailed information on the fair, how to volunteer at the fair, and information on eWallet (the cashless way to pay):https://secure.smore.com/n/bta6g1

Teachers will be signing up for their own eWallet accounts and sending out the links. These accounts are for the teachers to purchase books from the fair for their classroom libraries. Feel free to donate any amount that you are comfortable with. The books purchased will enrich the education of children for years to come. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Kindergarten Registration

It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…

There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:

  1. Determine eligibility.
  2. Identify your local school.
  3. Gather documents.
  4. Fill out forms.
  5. Schedule an appointment.

After the appointment at the school (the student and one guardian must be present), the student will be ready for Kindergarten Orientation on April 1 at 9 a.m. Read more about the registration process. For additional information, please contact Jailene Acevedo, our school registrar.

💻 Try Online Registration

Online registration for the 2025-26 school year is open. Parents/caregivers may register their children online for kindergarten through 12th grade. Learn how to begin the online registration process
