Dear Wolftrap Families,
We are well on the way to the third quarter of school! We had a wonderful Drop Everything and Reflect day, where students across the school stopped to study Quarter 2 work and choose items for portfolios that illustrated their work toward a Portrait of a Graduate goal. We are so excited to invite the community to Wolftrap to hear about our progress at the end of the school year!
Reminder: We are friends with a school in Reston who has recently put out a call for 25$ gift cards from Safeway for families in need. Families can easily walk to Safeway, so it is the preferred gift card. If you are moved to help, please drop those gift cards to the Wolftrap office, and we will get them to our friends. Thank you so much for considering this way to support those in our community.
We are looking forward to a wonderful week!
Dr. Maggie Grove, Principal
Ms. Megan Tipton, Assistant Principal
I am excited to announce that we will have cell service boosters installed on February 4th. I’m hopeful that these boosters will help cell service become more reliable throughout the building. This reliable service would help those visiting the school to log onto the network and help phones work in all areas of the building.
Our school will participate in the FCPS Student Experience Survey. This survey will gather important feedback from students about their school experiences to help FCPS make meaningful improvements.
All students in grades 3-6, except those who have opted out, will receive a link to the survey in their FCPS email on February 24. We will administer the survey during the school day between Monday, February 24, and Friday, March 7. Any student may take the survey at home, if they are unable to take the survey during the school day. You will receive a communication with details on how to preview the survey and opt your child out, if you choose.
We believe it's important to hear from our students about what we're doing well and where we can improve. This work also aligns with the five equity commitments in FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan, which focus on amplifying student voice and experiences as we work toward meeting plan goals.
Progress reports will be viewable on SIS ParentVUE accounts on Tuesday February 4th. If you have any trouble accessing this information, please let the office know. Thank you!
For those of you who do not know, our staffing depends on our enrollment. That is why it is important for us to make sure all students who desire to attend Wolftrap register early! Kindergarten registration is open now! Spread the word, especially if you have families in your neighborhood! There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:
- Determine eligibility.
- Identify your local school.
- Gather documents.
- Fill out forms.
- Schedule an appointment.
After the appointment at the school (the student and one guardian must be present), the student will be ready for our spring orientation! Details to come! Read more about the registration process. For additional information, please contact Ms. Caroline Kamel, school registrar.
Superintendent Michelle Reid presented the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Proposed Budget at the School Board meeting on Thursday, January 23. Watch a video of the presentation. The proposed budget reflects the needs of and FCPS’ commitments to Fairfax County students, families, and community members. It focuses on competitive compensation, including a 7.0% salary increase for all staff to recruit and retain our outstanding educators, administrators, and other school-based and operational staff dedicated to the success of our students; investing in students who require additional support; and continuing multiyear initiatives such as inclusive preschool and safety and security updates. Learn more on the Budget webpage.
If you have not been able to attend an FCPS Community Boundary Review meeting yet, it’s not too late! The last virtual meeting will have the same format and information available as the previous in-person meetings:
Each virtual meeting will be capped at 400 participants to help provide a meaningful experience for all. Language interpretation will be available. Learn about FCPS’ Comprehensive Boundary Review. Sign up for the School Boundary Review newsletter for updates.
By enrolling in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) course or program, students learn the technical applications of many occupations while preparing for higher education or entry-level employment. A core program of CTE courses is offered in every middle and high school including Business and Information Technology, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health and Medical Sciences, Marketing, Technology and Engineering Education, and Trade and Industrial Education. Learn more on the FCPS CTE webpage. CTE also offers summer programs for students to explore their programs. Enroll now!
