A Message from Ms. Consolla
This past week has been a busy one. We've finished up most of our iReady and VALLSS testing. We're seeing excellent progress in all areas. Next week families will receive their child's second quarter progress report. As always, please reach out to your child's teacher with any questions.
If you are able to stop by the library on Wednesday morning at 9am, I'd love to share some of that progress we're seeing and hear what's on your mind at our Principal's Coffee.
Finally, please take a moment to let us know your child's dismissal plans for our next Early Release Monday on February 10th. Please fill out this quick survey for each child in your family at Fort Hunt.
As always, thank you for your partnership with us in your child's education at Fort Hunt.

Monday, February 10-Dismissal at 12:40pm
Please fill out the survey!
We will have another 3-hour early dismissal day so that teachers can complete the state-mandated literacy trainings. Since it's been a few months, we need parents to complete this survey for each child at Fort Hunt. Thank you!

SR&R and Cell Phone Policy Survey
All FCPS families and middle and high school students have received an invitation to participate in a survey about FCPS’ Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R), cell phone policy, and cell phone storage options. The survey will be available through Monday, February 3. Please take a few moments to share your feedback and help FCPS make informed, inclusive decisions for all of our schools!
BINGO Night was another great success! Thank you to our Grade 6 team of teachers and families that made this a night of fun for all!
🧥 Keep Your Child Warm During Outdoor Activities
Winter weather is here! As a reminder, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately with a warm coat and other cold-weather clothing, so they can comfortably enjoy time outdoors. We monitor the weather for low temperatures, wind chill advisories and warnings, and weather advisories that may prevent children from being outside for activities like recess or physical education. The decision to go out for recess is one made by the principal at each school and can change throughout the day as conditions change.
Visit Fairfax County’s website for Winter Weather/Extreme Cold safety tips.
If you need assistance getting cold-weather clothing for your family, please contact our family liaison, Antoine Pierce, at apierce@fcps.edu. You may also contact Fairfax County Coordinated Services Planning (CSP) at 703-222-0880. Their multilingual staff can assist with any challenges you are facing, including food, shelter, employment, financial assistance, and health care.

A New Way to Check the Lost & Found
Our rack is overflowing with jackets and coats. But it's now organized by COLOR! This makes it easier to locate a missing item. We know that parents may not be able to get to the cafeteria to check it. If you know the color, brand, size of the missing jacket, you can email the description to Ms.Consolla at jtconsolla@fcps.edu, and she'll check for you and/or send a photo.

Your Partners in Education
We are honored to work with your family this year and will work everyday to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for your child. We can't do it alone. Please contact us when there is a question or concern, especially related to bullying. As a parent, you will often hear about something before staff might. Thank you for all your support.
