2024-25 FCPS    School Calendar

Dear Spring Hill Families,

We have had a week of learning and celebrating! On Thursday, students participated in a quarterly presentation of learning, reflecting on how they have grown in their grade level portrait of a graduate skill. Everyone in the building joined in on DEAR time (Drop Everything and Reflect) to celebrate their hard work and achievements over the second quarter. See the FCPS Portrait of a Graduate page for more details. We also celebrated the Lunar New Year with a Dragon Dance Parade. Thank you to our wonderful FLES teachers, Ms. Lee and Ms. Shen, as well as well as our fantastic music and band teachers, Ms. McPhilamy and Mr. Donlon, for organizing this week's "Dragon Dance" parade in celebration of Lunar New Year. Students lined the halls to cheer on their peers for this joyous event.

We ended the week with our Mid-Year Pep Rally to celebrate that we raised over $8,456 for Rise Against Hunger! With this money, we are able to provide over 18,000 meals and feel over 118,000 people! I am so proud of our students and families and the incredible work we can do together! Thank you for your donations and helping us make a difference.

As a reminder, we allow up to three grade level celebrations during the school year: Fall Festival, Winter Celebration (prior to winter break) and End-of-Year. If classes would like to exchange Valentines or conduct a short activity on Valentine's day, that is welcome. However, no candy or food of any kind should be involved. Please do not send candy or chocolate in along with Valentines.

Sincerely,

Amy Briggs

Digital Citizenship Week

SHES Digital Citizenship Week starts on Monday!

This week will be dedicated to promoting safe, responsible, and ethical use of technology. It is imperative that students practice and talk about these skills regularly so that they are best prepared for the digital age. If you are looking for family resources around this topic, visit Common Sense Media, a company that provides toolkits, discussion guides, and recommendations for parents. We encourage students to participate in this spirit week by following the dress up themes above.
