Dear Haycock Families,
We celebrated Lunar New Year in lots of fun ways this past week. Thank you to the many parents who assisted and are providing activities for our students to honor and welcome in luck and prosperity for the new year.
We hope to see many of you at the upcoming PTA Bingo Night this Friday, February 7. There are two sessions- join us for one - 5:30 to 6:30 or 7:00 to 8:00 in the Haycock Cafeteria. This is a super fun night for the family every year.
Please note that our next 3 hour early release Monday is on February 24th. You will receive an email by the end of this week asking you to confirm your plans for your child for that day.
This week is School Counselor Appreciation Week. Please join us in honoring and thanking Ms. Lilienthal and Ms. Padgett for all the ways they support our Haycock students and families. ❤️

Kids Heart Challenge
Week of February 18-21st
Please consider donating to the Kids Heart Challenge this year by clicking on the link. Find our school, Haycock Elementary School, within the drop-down menu. Join our team. Create your login if you have not joined before. The last day to collect online donations will be Friday, February 14th at 9:00 a.m.
Our Kids Heart Challenge Event takes place during your child’s physical education class during the week of February 18th to February 21st. Your child does not have to fundraise in order to participate in the event, and parents are invited to join your child during their physical education classes that week. We hope to see you in the gym!

Rising Kindergarten Registration
🧸 Kindergarten Registration: It’s as Easy as 1-2-3…
There’s an easy five-step process for parents wanting to register their child for kindergarten:
- Determine eligibility.
- Identify your local school.
- Gather documents.
- Fill out forms.
- Schedule an appointment.
After the appointment at the school (the student and one guardian must be present), the student will be ready for the Haycock Kindergarten Orientation which will take place on Monday, March 17. Please complete this form only if your student will NOT be returning to Haycock ES or attending Longfellow /Cooper MS (for current 6th graders) next year.

Harlem Wizards Basketball Game
The Haycock PTA is partnering with other McLean elementary schools and our teachers will take on the Harlem Wizards in a fun and wild basketball game. A portion of the proceeds will benefit our PTA. Purchase your tickets today to reserve your spot at the game. This event will sell out, so get your tickets early
Office of the Ombuds: At Your Service!
Ombuds staff engage with FCPS employees, families, and students to offer resources and improve the experience of each and every member of the FCPS community. They work as an independent confidential resource to help get answers to questions, resolve concerns, and hear complaints regarding FCPS matters.
