Administration Notes
Dear Parents,
Recently, we have had some challenges at dismissal. There are 2 options for dismissal if you, as a parent/guardian, are picking up your child(ren). Your child should be met as a walker or picked up in the kiss and ride area. The playground is not a meeting place for students after school - especially without parent supervision. If you are unable to pick up your child on a timely basis, please coordinate with another parent and notify the office. Students should not be unsupervised at the end of the day.
Our police officer, who supports our walkers and dismissal after school, also shared that many parents are not following guidelines for pick up. Parents must NOT block any driveways (especially in the cul de sac ) and should always respect the property and residents in the neighborhood. There may be tickets given in the future should parents park in front of driveways and in other non parking areas no matter the timeframe in which are parked.
We will be remitting information regarding attendance for your child(ren). The VDOE has now deemed 15 absences (excused or unexcused) as 'chronic absenteeism'. Data shows that students missing 10% of school (2 days a month) negatively affects their academic performance. Your child's attendance matters and if you are at the 15 day number, we will be contacting you for next steps.
Please note that this coming Wednesday (1/29) is a Teacher Workday ~ student holiday. We look forward to seeing our students back at school on Thursday.
Last but not least, we will be transitioning to outdoor recess. Please dress your child appropriately. Remind your child(ren) that throwing of snow/ice is NOT acceptable. All students need to be safe. Thanks as always for your support!
Warmly,
Holly McGuigan Tia Hawkins Sarah Talley

Dear Families,
This week, our school community will focus on the character strength of Social Intelligence. Social intelligence means understanding other people's thoughts and feelings and why they act the way they do.
Social intelligence helps us build good relationships by being aware of others’ emotions and behaviors. It is different from "book smarts" and grows with experience. It also allows people to connect, form friendships, and protect themselves from being taken advantage of. It also helps us read facial expressions and understand what motivates others.
To practice and encourage the character strength of social intelligence at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.

📈 Virginia’s Student Assessment Summary for Families
This month, families of students who took any Standards of Learning (SOL) test between school years 2015-16 and 2023-24 will receive a Student Assessment Summary Report. The report shows a student’s state percentile ranking for each test. This allows families to see how their child ranked compared to all Virginia students who took the same test that year.
Reports are available now in SIS ParentVUE Documents. We will distribute them to students whose families do not have ParentVUE access. Learn how to access ParentVUE. The report is intended to help families reflect on how their child performed across all tested subjects over the years. Our staff members are committed to working with families to help every student reach their highest potential. Learn more about student assessments in FCPS.
The QR code above and the link is here to purchase the yearbook. Use code 21772. We will close the purchase window March 21, 2025. Buy now to ensure you will have a yearbook for your child(ren)!
