Churchill Chatter - Issue 11, January 27, 2025
Third graders enjoyed their field trip to the Maryland Science Center in Baltimore.
Dear Churchill Road Families,
Hoping you have enjoyed some of our beautiful snow over the past few weeks. Thank you for ensuring your students are dressed for the weather. Despite the cold temperatures, our third graders enjoyed their field trip to the Maryland Science Center.
Tuesday marks the end of the 2nd quarter. We have learned so much in the first half of the year, and we can’t wait to see what our students will accomplish in the second half. Tuesday, January 28 will be a full day of school, and Wednesday, January 29 will be a holiday for students while teachers work on progress reports.
We are so proud of our students for their contributions to the Rise Against Hunger Service Learning project. We will be accepting in-school donations through Thursday, January 30. We need your help to reach Langley Pyramid Schools’ goal of 82,000 meals to make this the year we package our one-millionth meal. The Langley Pyramid is trying to raise about $11,000 more dollars to get to one-million meals. Thank you so much for your generosity.
Looking ahead, we hope to see many of you at the PTA’s Family Bingo Night on February 7th.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cherith Pierson-Barr

Character Strengths Focus
The next two weeks our school community is focusing on the character strengths of Perseverance and Social Intelligence.
Perseverance means completing what you start despite obstacles. It means never giving up.
Social Intelligence means you are aware of other people's thoughts and feelings. You understand why they do things.
To practice and encourage the character strengths with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions about these character strengths.
