STEM Engineering Students Build Model Solar-Powered Vehicles

Creativity, critical thinking, and a little competitive spirit were on display as students in our STEM Engineering classes designed and constructed solar-powered racecars.  This project required students to work in teams and use hands-on engineering skills to build their racecars.  Students constructed their racecars with the goal of having the fastest vehicle.  To add an extra challenge, each car was required to carry a payload, two ping pong balls, that would stay in place the entire length of the racetrack.  Our engineering students were certainly up for the challenge, as we had many creative vehicles racing down our Academy hallway throughout the week.

This is just one example of how our engineering students use creativity, problem solving, and experimentation each day in the lab.  We love to see our students working together to create amazing results!
