The Clearview Community Connect

Stronger Together

Dear Clearview Families,

We could not be more proud of our students during the awesome visit by the Washington Commanders yesterday! They did an incredible job sharing the hype, while at the same time being respectful. Major Tuddy said that Clearview is his favorite school and that the students were some of the most respectful children he’d been around.  He loved the energy of our community.  Please congratulate your children on a job very well done!

Would you like to recognize someone from our school who goes above and beyond? Submit a nomination to FCPS Cares.

This week at Clearview

Science Olympiad Competition- Volunteers Needed on Saturday, February 15

As you may know, students in the 5-6th grade Science Olympiad Club will be competing at Centerville High School next month. All teams are required to register 3 volunteers in advance of the event. If you have a few hours available to lend on Saturday, February 15, please register at the VASO Volunteer Portal. Volunteers will sign up, create a volunteer profile that links them to Clearview, and select one or more shifts to cover throughout the tournament day. Shifts are 2-2.5 hours in length, and do not require any advance preparation. Volunteers are often acting as a second adult in a testing room, graders, timers/spotters in build events, etc. There are also some shifts that can be covered by high school students, but those go quickly! There is a tournament volunteer roles video in the Mentor/Parent section of the VASO Resources page, as well.

Volunteers are welcome to join us on the bus to and from the event.

Stars on Stage

Great news! Up to 50 students in grades 3-6 with an interest in theater (on-stage or back-stage) will have the opportunity to participate in an 11-week after school club held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning on March 11, 2025. The club is free of charge and both snack and transportation will be provided. NextStop Theatre Company will be facilitating the club.

There will be an evening performance (for families) in June followed by two daytime performances (for students) the following day. On-line registration will open in late January.

Would you like to learn more about this incredible opportunity?  Plan to attend the January PTA meeting and/or January Family Coffee.  Representatives from NextStop will be there to share details!

After-School Clubs

Reminder: Clubs will NOT be held on January 28 and 29.

We are excited to be offering a variety of clubs this spring, grades K-6 beginning in April! Different clubs have different selection criteria depending on the club sponsor and/or funding source stipulation(s); meaning, students are selected via lottery for some clubs while others have a different selection process. Selection is via lottery whenever possible. Students in grades K-6 will receive an Interest Form in Tuesday folders on February 4. Indicate interest by checking the appropriate box(es), signing your name, and returning it by Monday, February 12 if you would like for your child to be considered for participation.
