Thoreau Matters (Friday, January 17, 2025)

Dear Thoreau Families,

First,we would like to apologize for the technical issue that caused last Friday’s weekly eNotify to fail to send as scheduled. Below is the message originally intended for Friday, January 17, 2025.

Our large community event called Crosstown Hoops will be held on Thursday, April 3rd at Marshall High School! This annual tradition allows Thoreau MS and Kilmer MS to go head-to-head in a four-game basketball tournament.

The 2025 Crosstown Hoops Student Interest Meeting will be taking place after-school on Monday January 27th during 1st session (2:25pm-3:20pm) in Eagle Hall. If any student is interested in trying out for the Crosstown Hoops teams, please attend the meeting where students will learn more information about the tryout and practice schedule. This meeting is only for students, not parents.

Tryouts for the 7th and 8th grade boys' and girls' Crosstown teams are highly competitive, and not all participants will be selected. Coaches approach these teams with a high school model in mind, selecting players based on talent, attitude, and dedication. Therefore, parental interest in having a child play does not guarantee a spot on the team.

We know this will be an amazing community event and we look forward to sharing more details about tickets in the future.

As a reminder, we have no school on Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the Presidential Inauguration.

Sincerely,

Teresa Khuluki

Principal
