It has been a wonderful week at Saratoga filled with community events and great learning! A huge thank you to our PTA for a fantastic Family Game Night; it was heartwarming to see so many families enjoying games and snacks together. We also celebrated the incredible talent of our 4th-grade musicians at the Strings Showcase and we continue to be impressed by their hard work and beautiful music.  Our classrooms were filled with students engaging in new learning and sharing their ideas with each other.

New Family Meet & Greet

Are you a NEW family in Saratoga this school year 2024-2025? If YES, join us at the "New Saratoga Families Meet & Greet" Event. You will have an opportunity to connect with other new families, meet our Family Ambassadors, meet the Principal, staff and the PTA leader while learning important information to help your children thrive at school, our school history and what makes this community great. We will have pizza, refreshments, and a family activity. The event will be at the Cafeteria on Tuesday, January 21 from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm.

Attendance

As we have shared before, good attendance is an important life skill that will help students succeed in school and beyond.  Every day of learning is a day toward success. Keep in mind that absences add up quickly. Students absent 10% of the school year (or just two days per month) are considered chronically absent. As a school, Saratoga has decreased from 15% of the students at Saratoga being chronically absent in October to 10% of the students being chronically absent as of this week. Thank you for all you have done to positively impact student attendance!

When planning trips or family events, refer to the FCPS calendar and try to use weekends and school holidays.

When possible, schedule appointments for your child outside of school hours. If your child needs to miss school because of an illness or another reason, you must report the absence.

📵 Phones Down, Engagement Up: FCPS Cell Phone Policy Keeping cell phones off during the school day helps students focus and learn. It also boosts positive social behavior. Review FCPS’ cell phone expectations by grade level with your child and help keep our classrooms free of distractions! If you need to reach your child during the school day, please call Saratoga.

¡Ha sido una semana maravillosa en Saratoga llena de eventos comunitarios y gran aprendizaje! Muchas gracias a nuestro PTA por una fantástica Noche de Juegos Familiares; Fue reconfortante ver a tantas familias disfrutando juntas de juegos y refrigerios. También celebramos el increíble talento de nuestros músicos de cuarto grado en Strings Showcase y seguimos impresionados por su arduo trabajo y su hermosa música.  Nuestras aulas estaban llenas de estudiantes que participaron en nuevos aprendizajes y compartieron sus ideas entre sí.

Nueva reunión familiar y saludo

¿Sois una NUEVA familia en Saratoga este año escolar 2024-2025? En caso afirmativo, únase a nosotros en el evento "Conozca y salude a las nuevas familias de Saratoga". Tendrá la oportunidad de conectarse con otras familias nuevas, conocer a nuestros embajadores familiares, conocer al director, al personal y al líder de la PTA mientras aprende información importante para ayudar a sus hijos a prosperar en la escuela, nuestra historia escolar y lo que hace que esta comunidad sea grandiosa. Tendremos pizza, refrigerios y una actividad familiar. El evento será en la Cafetería el martes 21 de enero de 5:30 pm a 6:30 pm.

Asistencia

Como hemos compartido antes, la buena asistencia es una habilidad importante para la vida que ayudará a los estudiantes a tener éxito en la escuela y más allá.  Cada día de aprendizaje es un día hacia el éxito. Tenga en cuenta que las ausencias se acumulan rápidamente. Los estudiantes que faltan el 10% del año escolar (o solo dos días al mes) se consideran ausentes crónicos. Como escuela, Saratoga ha disminuido del 15% de los estudiantes en Saratoga con ausencia crónica en octubre al 10% de los estudiantes con ausencia crónica a partir de esta semana. ¡Gracias por todo lo que ha hecho para impactar positivamente la asistencia de los estudiantes!

Al planificar viajes o eventos familiares, consulte el calendario de FCPS e intente utilizar los fines de semana y días festivos escolares.

Cuando sea posible, programe citas para su hijo fuera del horario escolar. Si su hijo necesita faltar a la escuela debido a una enfermedad u otro motivo, debe informar la ausencia.

📵 Teléfonos caídos, interacción aumentada: Política de telefonía celular de FCPS 

Mantener los teléfonos celulares apagados durante el día escolar ayuda a los estudiantes a concentrarse y aprender. También impulsa el comportamiento social positivo. Revise con su hijo las expectativas de FCPS sobre teléfonos celulares por nivel de grado y ayude a mantener nuestras aulas libres de distracciones. Si necesita comunicarse con su hijo durante el día escolar, llame a Saratoga.
