 We want to highlight that January is National Mentoring Month
The FCPS MentorWorks program matches mentors with students in schools near where they live or work. They meet for at least 30 minutes a week. Learn more about how to become a mentor for an FCPS student. Contact Martha Macdonald, mentoring specialist, for additional information at mmacdonald@fcps.edu.
Robinson Curriculum Night
We invite parents of all rising 7th-12th graders to attend our curriculum night and learn more about the wide array of courses available to students.
This will take place on January 15th from 5:00pm-8:00pm but we encourage you to visit this link to find more information about the event.
Robinson International Show
The Robinson International Show unfortunately needed to postpone their show due to school closures. We will communicate and advertise the new date and time as soon as we are able.
Lightspeed Parent Reports
FCPS has tools to help parents know more about their child’s activity on any FCPS device. These tools are provided at no cost to families by Lightspeed, the school division’s internet content filtering service.
Parents may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites your child visited. The report also offers parents the ability to sign up for free access to the Internet Use Parent Portal. Through the portal, parents may pause their child’s access to the internet on their FCPS device during non-school hours.

MS Clubs & Activities Program
Important Program Information:
There will not be after-school activities or late buses on Wednesday, January 15th due to Curriculum Night!
- The After-School Registration form is required for ALL Robinson Middle School students (regardless of intent to participate).
- Late buses run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and depart Robinson around 4:45 PM.
- Check out the 2nd Quarter Calendar. Please remember that activities are added throughout the year.

- Students will sign up on their grade level Schoology each late bus day they wish to attend. The sign-up is posted around 9:30 am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Clubs/Activities:
Spring Track - Is your child interested in Spring Track? Please fill out the Spring Track Registration Form.
If your child participated in Cross Country, we do not need a new Physical Form or Emergency Care Form.
Additional information about Track will be sent out in the next couple weeks.
Football Conditioning - Football conditioning meets on Mondays and Thursdays with Coach Arena. Students must fill out a permission slip to attend. The forms can be turned into Sub-School 8 or to Coach Arena. Students should meet in the gym after-school.
Color Guard - Color Guard will begin on Wednesday, January 22nd.
 Dungeons & Dragons - Dungeons and Dragons meets on Mondays in the blue cafeteria! Students should sign up on the morning schoology post.
Vex Robotics - Vex Robotics is an 11 week program that requires Registration. Please use the QR code below or register here. For questions about Vex Robotics please contact, leaders@edu-futuro.org
Anime Club - Anime Club meets on Mondays in Room B226.
Artistic Nail Club -Students will have the chance to be artistic and creative in nail designs. Artistic Nail Club meets on Mondays after-school.
Battle of the Books - A club where students will make new friends, have fun reading new books, and test their book knowledge and teamwork by participating in a county-wide battle. Commitment is necessary. The next meeting is on Monday, January 27th.
Improv Club - Is your child interested in Improvisational Comedy? They should join the Improv Club in D106. Late buses will be available. No experience necessary. Join the MS Improv Schoology Group with the code 9ZDH-R564-2H5JX to stay up to date on all things MS Improv.
Lego Robotics - Meets Wednesdays After School in Room A211.
Mock Trial Club - Would you like your child to learn how to craft a winning argument? Are they interested in learning about the legal profession? Do they like storytelling or public speaking? They should attend Mock Trial Club every Thursday from 3:00-4:30 in A-211! Sponsored by Ms. O’Brien and Mrs. Hauser.
Quizbowl - Does your child like testing their knowledge in Academic Subjects? If so, they should check out Quiz Bowl, a Jeopardy!-style game in which teams compete to answer questions, ranging in subject from literature and science to history and pop culture. Quizbowl is co-ed!

The Student Services staff is here to help you in any way we can. Please note that students cannot leave class or lunch to see their counselor without an appointment and a pass. If they need assistance, we encourage them to email our Student Services staff to request an appointment. If there is an emergency, their teacher will call the subschool office for assistance.
