Global Classroom Project Continues to Thrive
The Fairfax County Public Schools Global Classroom Project, which began as a pilot program in 2017-2018 with just seven schools, has expanded significantly! We're now thrilled to be connecting students in fifty schools across a variety of grade levels with global partners.
Through collaborative projects tackling important global challenges, students are developing crucial 21st-century skills. They're learning to think critically, communicate effectively, and understand and appreciate diverse cultures. These valuable experiences are preparing them to become active and responsible global citizens.
We're incredibly proud of the growth and impact of this program and look forward to even more exciting global collaborations in the future!

Woodlawn Elementary School's Global Classroom Projects
Woodlawn Elementary School is actively engaged in global learning through two exciting Global Classroom Projects.
4th Grade: Climate Action (SDG #13): Fourth-graders are partnering with the Boston International School in Panama City, Panama, to explore the critical issue of Climate Action. This project will involve investigating climate change, environmental conservation, and sustainable practices. Students will research weather patterns, ecosystems, and human impacts on the environment, while collaborating with their peers in Panama to share ideas, conduct research, and discuss the importance of climate action. This cross-cultural exchange will enhance their English language skills through authentic, global communication.
3rd Grade: Life on Land (SDG #15): Third-graders are collaborating with Papa Giovanni XXIII-Capozzi-Galilei School in Valenzano, Italy, to address the global challenge of Urbanization. As GCP participants, students will work together to identify solutions to the human impact of urbanization on their communities. They will share experiences across continents through photo story interviews and create postcards and brochures to demonstrate their understanding of urbanization and its impact on their daily lives.
