Poverty in America Awareness Month
Join the Bush Hill Food Drive this January during Poverty in America Awareness Month to make a meaningful difference in our community! Together, we can combat food insecurity by providing essential support to local families in need. Your contributions—whether non-perishable food items or toiletries —will go directly to helping neighbors facing challenging times. Let’s come together as a community to show compassion, raise awareness, and take action.
All Donations will go to the Capital Area Food Bank and Alexandria Community Shelter.

     We're asking each grade to donate a themed basket (with new items) for our upcoming Silent Auction. These baskets will be auctioned off in person to help raise money for school improvements, extracurricular activities, school events, and to help fund field trips.

Registration for the countywide lottery for FCPS’ Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program will open on Monday, January 13, 2025. Current pre-K students may apply for the kindergarten immersion program, and current kindergarten students may apply for the first grade immersion program for the 2025-26 school year.
Dual Language Immersion is available in French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.
Parents/caregivers who are interested may want to attend an informational meeting held at the school site. Visit the Dual Language Immersion Program Registration page for a list of meetings by language offered.

Thank you for spreading the word to friends and neighbors who may be interested in registering their rising kindergarten student. As a reminder, families do not have to live inside a school's boundary to participate in an immersion program as it is determined by lottery.
Mark Your Calendars.
All students in grades 3-6 will take their winter iReady universal screener assessments on the following dates:
- Wednesday January 22nd: Reading
- Thursday January 30th: Math
Please do your best to ensure that your student attends school on both days to participate in these assessments. If you know in advance that your student will be absent, please notify your child’s teacher. Do your best to ensure that your student gets a good night’s rest and eats a healthy, filling breakfast in the morning on these dates! Thank you for your support!
