Atoms Athletics Recap
Boys Basketball lone game of the week vs Hayfield was canceled Friday evening and a make up date is still to be determined.
Girls Basketball played in the Winter Holiday Classic at Mt. Vernon, December 27-30. The Atoms faced a tough Marshall team in the first game that saw the Statesman run away with the win in round one. The Atoms returned to the court for day two against Forest Park. The Atoms got up early in a back and forth affair and held a four point advantage at the half. The second was similar to the first half with baskets being traded before the Atoms strung a few together to pull away and get the 42-37 win! Game three saw a rematch from earlier in the season as the Atoms took on Gar-Field. An 8:30am start time wasn't kind to the Atoms early as they trailed 21-18 at the half. However, the Atoms woke up in the second half and turned up the defense as they pulled away from the Red Wolves in the second half to get the 48-32 win to finish in 5th place in the tournament. The Atoms were scheduled to play Hayfield Friday evening but due to inclement weather, the game was canceled.
Boys & Girls Wrestling traveled to Woodbridge for the Battle of the Bridge tournament December 27 and 28. Several Atom wrestlers had impressive outings for the tournament led by Junior Vera Pena and his third place overall finish, including an incredible four match win streak to avenge his early loss in the tournament. The Atoms return to the mat today at Broad Run.

Atoms Boosters Concession Stand Help
Attention Parents! Volunteers are needed to sell concessions at games throughout the year. We welcome any and all parents to volunteer but when parents of a particular sport work a game, a portion of concessions sales directly benefit that team. If you are not able to help directly at home games, there are many ways you can get involved with the Atoms Athletics Boosters by attending our monthly meetings or being a team liaison. Thank you for your support for Atom’s Athletics!
For questions about concession stand sign ups, contact Odessa Murray.

 Partners for Safe Teen Driving
Included in Grade 10 Health & PE is one quarter, or 30-36 hours, of in-classroom driver education. To obtain your driver’s license in Virginia, you must successfully complete, or pass, the classroom portion of driver education. You must also attend a 90-minute parent-teen traffic safety program, Partners for Safe Teen Driving, or PSTD, with a parent or legal guardian. Annandale High School is hosting five (5) PSTD presentations this school year, one each quarter and two during the fourth quarter. They are free to students enrolled in Health & PE 10 at Annandale HS and begin at 630pm in the auditorium. You must attend with a parent or legal guardian, arrive ON TIME, and remain the duration of the presentation for your attendance to be verified. Choose a date convenient for you and your parent or legal guardian. You may attend a session outside of your Driver Education quarter.
