News from THE LAKES - January 13 Edition

The Lakes

Happy New Year, Seahawk families, community members, and students!  We are proud to kick off this new year with the introduction of our News From “The Lakes” newsletter.  Strong communication is the cornerstone of every relationship, and the administration of South Lakes High School is committed to continuing to enhance our connection with you, our school community with important information, messages, and events from The Lakes twice a month.  The structure of the News From “The Lakes” will be centered around our mission of SOAR:  Scholarship, Ownership, Awareness and Respect.  At South Lakes High School, we live by these tenants and we work to support our students in developing these attributes in their everyday lives.  We also want to celebrate the amazing learning and happenings at South Lakes High School  through these concepts in the newsletter.

As the News From “The Lakes” comes out every other week, be on the lookout for eNotify messages that are messages that communicate “in the moment” information that is timely.  We will also continue to use Talking Points to connect with you on a regular basis from our classrooms, subschools, and attendance related matters.

As always, thank you for your continued partnership as we move into the second semester of the school year.  Here’s to a strong kick off to 2025!

With Gratitude,

The South Lakes Administration

Lightspeed Parent Reports

FCPS has tools to help parents know more about their child’s activity on any FCPS device. These tools are provided at no cost to families by Lightspeed, the school division’s internet content filtering service.

Parents may sign up for a weekly Parent Report, which will provide a list of the top sites your child visited. The report also offers parents the ability to sign up for free access to the Internet Use Parent Portal. Through the portal, parents may pause their child’s access to the internet on their FCPS device during non-school hours.
