Introducing our Interim Assistant Principal

Dear Mantua Families, 

Finding the ideal candidate for the Assistant Principal position is crucial. To ensure we attract the strongest pool of applicants, we've decided to advertise our Assistant Principal vacancy in the spring. In the meantime, we're pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Chris Webster, our current Technology Support Specialist (TSSpec), as Interim Assistant Principal. Mr. Webster has completed his Educational Leadership and Administration program and has experience supporting our school through an administrative capacity numerous times.  We are confident in Mr. Webster's ability to serve our students and community effectively during this interim period and are very excited to work with him in this capacity. Mr. Webster has over 11 years of experience in education, most recently spending the last three years here at Mantua Elementary.  Mr. Webster started his career in education teaching eighth grade English in Stafford County.  He has also taught for Hawaii Public Schools as a tenth grade English teacher and then as the Technology Coordinator for a high school on Oahu, Hawaii.  Prior to joining Fairfax County Public Schools, Mr. Webster spent several years serving as an Instructional Technology Coach for Prince William County Schools, utilizing data, research-based practices, and innovative technology to improve staff and student learning.  Over the last five years, Mr. Webster has worked in FCPS as a School Based Technology Specialist, Summer Learning Programs Director, Administrative Intern, and most recently, as the Technology Support Specialist at Mantua Elementary.  Throughout his time in education, Mr. Webster has led numerous school, regional, district, and state-level professional development opportunities on educational technology.  

Mr. Webster holds a Bachelor of Education in Secondary English/Language Arts from The University of Hawaii.  He holds a Master’s of Education in K-12 Instructional Technology from NOVA Southeastern University, as well as a Master’s of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration from the American College of Education.  

In his off time, Mr. Webster enjoys spending time with his wife, a Fairfax educator, and taking their two dogs on walks around their neighborhood lake.  His time away from work is often spent playing hockey, hiking, and exploring new places.  

Mr. Webster is excited to serve the Mantua community, staff, and students in a new role.  He aims to utilize his coaching mindset and experience working with diverse communities of learners to help all students succeed and support Mantua’s faculty and staff.
