Important Info & Events

JMHS PTSA Winter Clothing Drive

Thank you to everyone for their donations to the Madison High School/JMHS PTSA winter clothing drive!  We have had a few last-minute requests this week to help students in need. More slots are open on the sign up, particularly for women’s boots, an XL women’s coat, and general clothing items.  Donations are welcome in the main office, weekdays from 8am-4pm.  Any questions can be directed to Bethany Slingerland at bsslingerlan@fcps.edu. Thank you, as always, for the generosity and kindness the Madison community demonstrates towards our students!

Mission & Vision Input

We're excited to share that our mission and vision work has begun, with valuable input from our teachers and students. Now, we need your voice! We invite you to join the conversation and help shape the future of our school.  We will keep the feedback form open until mid-January.  Please share this link with other families: Mission and Vision Parent Input Form.

Impact Aid Forms Needed

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets (in the upper right corner after logging in) and paper copies have been sent home with students. Please complete it as soon as possible.

College Board Accommodation Request Deadline for May 2025 AP Exam Administration

New accommodation requests for AP testing are due to Mr. Bartram (jtbartram@fcps.edu) by Monday, January 20, 2025. For more information about College Board accommodations please visit the FCPS website.

College Board accommodations are a separate process from an IEP or 504. The College Board must approve a formal request for each student. If a student already has College Board accommodations approved from a previous PSAT, SAT, or AP test, then no further action is needed. Once approved, accommodations remain in place for all College Board testing.

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener Results Available

Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of October. Individual student SEL Screener results are now available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent via postal mail.

For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or reach out to our school staff with any questions.

Winter Break Support: Free Mental Health Services for Students!

Happy holidays from Hazel Health to your school team! With the holiday season and the busy winter/spring semester approaching, this is a great time to consider making mental health referrals for your students. In January and February we typically see a very strong demand for therapy support, for minor symptoms (managing stress, anxiety) or more serious issues.

As a reminder, our services are completely free for all students. Referrals are quick and easy with our referral process  and our team is here to support you every step of the way. Families can make a direct referral, or can connect with the school counseling team who can make a referral on their behalf

Visit the Fairfax County Public Schools and Hazel Health site for more information.

School in session

Reminder: School is in session every day this week! Please help us have all students in attendance all five days this week with the goal of keeping our chronic absenteeism rate under 10%.
