A note from Principal Whatley

We are just one week away from Winter Break, and what a wonderful and busy quarter it has been! There is so much to celebrate and be thankful for as we reflect on all that we've accomplished together. Our students and staff have been hard at work, from SOL tests for our term graduates to play rehearsals, socials, and exciting field trips. It's been a whirlwind, and we couldn't be prouder of the dedication and effort our students have shown.

As we approach the holiday season, I encourage everyone to take the time to rest, recharge, and spend quality time with loved ones. It's important that we come back refreshed and ready to finish this school year strong!

We look forward to welcoming our students back in the New Year. Until then, please stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy a well-deserved break.

Dates to Remember

  • December 23 - January 3 - No School - Winter Break

Mountain View Winter Session

The VDOE announced a new opportunity to allow in-person flexible instructional hours to adjust chronic absenteeism calculations. We are providing an opportunity for students to come to school during the winter break to work on missing assignments. For every three hours that the student spends at school over winter break, the student gets one day back. The goal is to prevent students from becoming chronically absent, which can impact academic progress.

Please select the dates and times that you are committing to participate in the Mountain View Flexible Learning, which will take place over winter break.

⛄Student and Family Resources

Fairfax County Public Schools has compiled a list of resources for students and families in case they need assistance while schools are closed for winter break. Please visit FCPS’ winter resources webpage for information on academic support, mental health support, and county resources related to food, clothing, housing, and other needs.

School’s Closed, Learning Can Continue!

FCPS encourages students to take advantage of fun learning opportunities during winter break and snow days. Consider these winter activities to blend education and play for your students during winter break or weather-related school closures.

Clothing Exchange extended for MTV families

Families feel free to come in during the school day on Monday, 12/16 or Tuesday, 12/17 to help yourself to free clothing, shoes and books.

❄️ Preparing for Winter Weather

Winter weather will be here before you know it! Watch this video to see how weather-related closing decisions are made.
