The All Night Grad Party NEEDS YOU!
Every year, Woodson celebrates our graduates with a drug and alcohol free all night party to keep our teens off the roads and safe. It’s a Cavalier tradition that freshman, sophomore, and junior parents organize the event to “pay it forward” for when their own kids are celebrating. But this fabulous event can’t happen without a planning committee!

Spring Break Europe Trip 2025
An amazing student experience traveling to Vienna, Budapest, and Prague during Spring Break.
The trip - The ten day spring break 2025 trip combines the best of art and culture of Salzburg, Vienna Budapest and Prague. There are multiple UNESCO Heritage Sites stops along the way including the center of Salzburg, Vienna, and Prague, the Hungarian Parliament Building, along with visits to castles and museums, and culture experiences like chocolate making in St. Gilgen. There is also a boat ride on the Danube in Budapest, a guided sightseeing tour that will highlight many of the city’s “Sound of Music” sites, and free time to explore along the way. The cost - The trip includes flights to and from Washington DC to Europe, all transportation in the country by bus, daily breakfast and dinners, all lodging, tips for the guide and bus driver, a tour guide that stays with us on the bus and tour guides at the different sites. What is not included? You will need to purchase your own lunch for the day, your ice cream, and any souvenirs you wish to purchase.
The organizers - The trip is not an official school trip, but it is being organized by Woodson teachers and ACIS. ACIS is leader in overseas student travel and has been used by Woodson teachers for more than 25 years.

Woodson Library Offers Community Service Hours
If your student needs Community service hours for the National Honor Society or other service learning communities, the Woodson Library can help your student!
Students can participate in HATS for ECHO in the Woodson library. Students will make a hat or scarf on a round loom for the clothing closet for ECHO a non-profit organization helping families in need. Students can also crochet or knit hats if they prefer.
We meet on the Late Bus day (Wednesday's), from 3:00 pm- 3:45 pm in the Woodson Library. (If schools are closed or no late buses, we do not meet.)
Students can make hats/scarves at home if they cannot stay after school. **See Mrs. Muir for more details on working from home. **

For the service learning to continue, the Woodson Library is currently in need of the following items:

Student Driver Magnets

Magnets are $8.00 each or 3 for $20.00. You can order online HERE.
Magnets are delivered to your door contact free (within a 5 mile radius of Woodson)! Alternatively, we can leave the magnets in the front office with your student’s name to pick up.
We will also be selling magnets at all the Partners for Safe Teen Driving seminars which are held throughout the year at the Woodson Auditorium.

Make a Lasting Mark for your Student!
The brick courtyard in front of the school, between the main entrance and the auditorium, still has plenty of room for engraved bricks for you to remember your special student or as a wonderful legacy for all the members of your family. They make great graduation presents for Seniors too! Orders must be received by April 4th, 2025 to be included and installed in this year’s order so don’t wait!

MANY THANKS to the families who purchased items in our Spirit Wear store. The items will be available for pick-up on 12/17 at the music showcase concert. Pick-up can also be arranged for 12/18. Any items not collected by then will be distributed in school on 12/19 and 12/20. A few extra items were purchased in the SpiritWear sale. We have several tote bags, beanie hats, sweatshirts and long sleeve tee shirts. We sold out of pajama pants. Email mpstrings@gmail.com to arrange purchase. Limited sizes available.

Indoor Track and Field
Congratulations to all the Athletes who participated in the first meet of the season!
Jackson Liddell, Kendall Anderson and Emma Prager placed top 10 in the 55 meter dash. In the 55 meter hurdles: Courtney Butts placed 4th.
In the 4x 200 relay Emma Prager, Abigail Ward, Grace Ewalt, and Kendall Anderson came in 1st place. Mary Kate Jones came in 4th place in the 1000 m. Noah Leahy and Isaac Schools came in the top 10 in the 3200 m. The boys team (Zain Elcock, Theodore Irvine, Sebastian Freeman, Jacob Spector) for the 4x400 meter relay placed 3rd.
Colleen Gilbert placed 2nd place in the High Jump. Jack Ward came in 2nd place in the long jump and Tyler Lim placed 4th. Congratulations to Barrett Pullen for placing 1st in the shot Put. Pullen broke a 41- year Woodson shot put record! Go Cavs!

Math Center
The Woodson Math Center is open. Students can come by B208 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:00 - 3:45 pm to receive free peer math tutoring. Snacks will be provided!

Ice Hockey Club
We played our toughest opponent yet against Woodbridge on Friday, December 6th at 6pm at Prince William Ice Center. Our team was down 0-3 and came back to end up in a tie 3-3! It was a great effort by our team for sure! No goals were scored by Woodson players but they played amazingly well. Thanks to the fans who came out to support us.
Our next Varsity game is Friday night, Dec 13th at the St. James starting at 8:30pm against West Potomac. Please come out and cheer us on!!
