Bailey’sUpper Families,
We have had a busy two weeks since Thanksgiving Break!! Our students are halfway through Quarter 2 and when we return from the winter break they will be iReady mid-year assessment in math and reading. The purpose of this assessment is to check your child’s progress in math and reading. It helps us see how much they’ve learned since the start of the school year and identify areas where they’re doing well or might need extra support. This assessment is not about grades or passing—it’s about understanding your child’s unique learning needs so we can better support their growth. It also helps us tailor instruction to ensure they’re on track for success. You will receive the results of your child’s assessment at the end of January. We will share more information closer to the date.
Thank you to all the families who joined us for our very first Principal’s Coffee! We focused on math instruction and even visited a few classrooms to see learning in action. A special shoutout to our amazing Math Coach, Ms. Barber, and our Family Liaisons, Ms. Perez and Ms. Abdulwahhab, for organizing. We’re excited to host another session soon, this time with a focus on literacy instruction. If you missed the resources we shared during the event, they’ve been sent out via Talking Points.
Didn’t receive them? Let us know, and we’ll be happy to send them your way!
It was such a pleasure meeting many of you at our bus stops today! I’m looking forward to connecting with even more of you next week as we visit additional stops. Don’t hesitate to come by and say hi—I’d love to see you!
Family Feedback
As we are approaching the middle of the school year and my first 9 months as principal, I am reaching out to get feedback from each of you! I would like to know what is going well, what can be improved, and how I can better support you and your child. Please take a moment to fill out the anonymous survey below -- it will close on December 20th.

iReady Reading and Math in January 2025
The Virginia Literacy Act (VLA) and Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) require schools to provide reading and mathematics screening tests for all students in grades 3-6. These assessments also fulfill a requirement for reading and mathematics growth assessments under the Virginia Assessment Program (VAP). Test results help families and teachers know how to support each student’s learning and development.

Students in grades 3-12 took the SEL Screener during the month of October, providing information on their SEL skills like achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships, and making responsible decisions. The screener also asks students how well their school community makes them feel valued, included, and supported.
Individual student SEL Screener results are now available to families in the Documents section of SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent via postal mail.
For support in understanding your individual student’s results or for ideas on how to support them at home, please review the Family Guide or reach out to our school staff with any questions.
