A Message From The Principal

Great things are always happening at Fort Belvoir Primary Elementary! Before our Thanksgiving break, our second-grade teachers hosted our annual Balloons over Broadway Parade. This event is our school’s version of the famous Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. The second-grade students read the book Balloons over Broadway with their classroom teachers and designed their very own balloons for the parade. It was such a joy for the entire school to experience the excitement of seeing all the beautiful and creative balloons designed by our students.

As part of the celebration, second-grade families were invited to join the parade and walk alongside their students. This event was a wonderful way to lead into the Thanksgiving break and foster a sense of community within our school. We also want to express our gratitude to our amazing PTO for their unwavering support. The PTO members dressed as turkeys and strutted down the hallways, leading our parade with enthusiasm and spirit!

New Mission and Vision Statement for Primary

Fort Belvoir Primary is seeking feedback from families on our school's Mission and Vision Statements as we work through creating them. Your input is invaluable as we strive to ensure that our values, goals, and aspirations align with the needs and expectations of our families.

We would love to hear 3 words that are important to your family when choosing your ideal school experience. (Example: Inspire, Educate, Celebrate). Please also take a moment to review our statements and share your thoughts using the link HERE

Together, we can continue to foster a learning environment that best supports our students and families. Thank you for your partnership in shaping the future of our school!

Primary’s Furry Friends

Students are absolutely loving our therapy dogs, Bella Rose and Chichi! We’ve partnered with the American Red Cross to provide emotional support, and it’s clear to see how much these furry friends are making a positive impact. Their gentle presence brings comfort and joy, making it impossible not to fall in love with them. The smiles and laughter they bring to our school are truly priceless!

Dolphin Pride in December

You have to be in it to win it! Throughout the entire month of December, we are encouraging students to show their school spirit as part of our effort to boost attendance. To make things even more exciting, we are hosting a month-long school spirit event. Each time a student participates, they will receive a raffle ticket with their name entered for a chance to win a prize. Let's show our Fort Belvoir pride and make this a memorable and spirited month!

Family Facing-Curriculum

Instruction in Virginia's public schools is guided by the Standards of Learning (SOL), which outline the expectations for student learning, assessment, and achievement from kindergarten through 12th grade.

This year, FCPS has adopted a new literacy curriculum, and teachers at Fort Belvoir Primary are introducing students to this updated approach. We encourage families to learn more about our new literacy curriculum and its implementation in the classroom using this link here. Establishing a strong literacy foundation is imperative for our students as they continue their educational journey.

Animal Shelter Donation Drive

Our Multi-age classroom, together with their buddy classroom, is excited to collect items for a local the Lorton Animal Shelter in Lorton, Virginia. It is located a short distance outside of Fort Belvoir Military Base. This special project holds a meaningful place in our students' hearts, as the shelter has been an invaluable partner in supporting their growth and fostering a love for learning. We kindly ask everyone to join us in this effort by donating the items listed below. Your contributions will make a positive impact, both for the shelter and for our students, as they learn the value of compassion and community support.

The last day to donate items will be Friday, December 13th. Thank you for helping us make a difference!
