The Clearview Community Connect

Stronger Together

Dear Clearview Families,

We trust that you enjoyed some down time for Thanksgiving and, at the same time, are happy to be back in the swing of things (at least for the next couple of weeks). Students did a nice job adjusting back to school this week thanks to your keeping of morning and bedtime routines.  It makes a difference!

*** Reminder that Monday is a 3-hour early release for students K-6.***

*** Student's will be dismissed at 12:35 on 12/9/24. ***

Would you like to recognize someone from our school who goes above and beyond? Submit a nomination to FCPS Cares.

Have a great weekend,

Up to 50 students in grades 3-6 with an interest in theater (on-stage or back-stage) will have the opportunity to participate in an 11-week after school club held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning on March 11, 2025. The club is free of charge and both snack and transportation will be provided. NextStop Theatre Company will be facilitating the club.

There will be an evening performance (for families) in June followed by two daytime performances (for students) the following day. On-line registration will open in February.

Would you like to learn more about this incredible opportunity?  Plan to attend the January PTA meeting and/or January Family Coffee.  Representatives from the theater company facilitating the club will be there to share details!

Clubs

The last day of fall clubs will be December 10/11.  Our winter session of clubs will begin the first week of January.  Families will receive bus transportation information prior to winter break via Talking Points.

Lost and Found

lost and found

This message is to remind you about our school’s lost and found procedures. Please check the lost and found area located in Clearview’s cafeteria as soon as possible to see if your child may be missing a jacket, sweater or even a lunch box.

All unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity on Thursday, December 19th.

Deadline for Full-time AAP Referrals is December 15!

If you are interested in referring your child for Level IV (full-time) Advanced Academic services next year, you must submit a parent referral by December 15, 2024.  Information regarding Advanced Academic Programs (AAP), the screening process, and referral forms is available here.  If you have additional questions, please contact Clearview’s Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, Holly Hill, at hlhill@fcps.edu or 703-708-6023.

❄️ Preparing for Winter Weather

Winter weather will be here before you know it! Watch this video to see how weather-related closing decisions are made.

FCPS’ website is generally the first place to find out about emergency weather closings. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible including email, text, social media, and news stations. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated

Be sure to plan for the winter season. Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE, bookmark the FCPS website, and arrange for childcare if needed.

Keep Your Child Warm During Outdoor Activities

We will monitor the weather for low temperatures, wind chill advisories and warnings, and weather advisories which may prevent children from being outside. Make sure your child is dressed appropriately with a warm coat and other cold-weather clothing, so they can comfortably enjoy their time outdoors. See the National Weather Service’s tips on staying safe during cold weather.

If you need assistance supplying your child with cold-weather clothing, please contact family liaison, Mary Specht, or School Social Worker, Abby Thomas.
