Dear Lake Anne Families,
It’s been a busy and exciting week at Lake Anne Elementary, full of activities that brought our community together!
We wrapped up a successful Book Fair—thank you to everyone who supported it. We also appreciate all who came out Wednesday night for the read-aloud event that was in connection with the Book Fair. Families gathered to enjoy stories like I Am Not a Monster by Sharon Peterson and Max Ryan, which teach lessons about self-acceptance, kindness, and understanding differences. It was a heartwarming experience for all who attended! Along with the fair, we kicked off our Attendance Challenge, and we’re excited to see which class will be the first to win the super cool prize for perfect attendance! Be sure to check in with your child to hear all about it.
We also celebrated National Cookie Day on December 4 with some sweet treats, and this morning, our Dolphins braved the chilly weather for a fun Walk & Roll event!
A big congratulations to our incredible Science Olympiad team for their outstanding achievements this week. We are so proud of their hard work and dedication! 🏅
📌 Quick Reminder: Monday, December 9, is a 3-hour early release day.
Thank you for your continued support in making our school such a wonderful place for our students to learn and grow. Have a fantastic weekend!
Warm regards,
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Jill D. Stewart, Principal
Ms. Melanie N. Porter, Assistant Principal

With new textbooks, differentiated student support plans, professional development for the Virginia Literacy Act, updated reading and math SOLs, and other initiatives, our teachers are balancing a lot alongside their primary focus—teaching!
Uninterrupted, in-person, collaborative planning time is essential for supporting our educators. A well-prepared and continuously improving teaching staff means better educational outcomes for all our students. Thank you for your understanding and partnership!

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) provides a comprehensive, sequential Family Life Education (FLE) program for students in grades kindergarten through grade twelve. Instruction is seen as a partnership among parents and guardians, the school, and the community in supporting the learning essential to the development of strong families, positive relationships, and a healthy community. Lake Anne Teachers will be providing instruction for FLE throughout the week of December 16-20th. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.
Parents/guardians may choose to opt their child out of all or part of the Family Life Education program. Students who are opted out are provided with age-appropriate, nonpunitive alternative health instruction, and every effort is made to foster respect for family choices. If you wish to opt your child out of all or part of FLE for this school year, opt out forms are available in Parent Digital Consent. Paper opt-out forms are available from your child’s school. Students receiving special education services and accessing modified curriculum will receive a printed opt-out form for modified FLE lessons.
Detailed grade-level program descriptions are available online at Elementary (K-6) , Middle School (7-8) , and High School (9-12). FLE grade level-specific lessons and media that FCPS has streaming rights for are available for parents online in Schoology.
