Message from the Principal

Arrival / Langley Parking Reminders

Seeing many of you drop off your students each morning has been a highlight. I appreciate the strong sense of community as students are dropped off daily. It is fantastic to see everyone operating with kindness and patience each morning.

  1. As you know, our parking lots bustle each morning. To improve visibility and safety for students and staff walking, we are working on getting a second crosswalk painted near Door #14.
  2. Please always use the established traffic pattern for Kiss and Ride. It is unsafe to drop students off in other parking lot areas.
  3. When dropping off your students, please move up to Door #14 as far as possible. I understand it may be more convenient for them to be dropped off near Door #11 or #12, but it creates an issue of traffic backing up.

Parking Reminders

We have noticed an increased number of vehicles parked on campus without a parking pass. The maximum number of parking permits has been issued, and the lot is at full capacity.

Our Security staff monitors school parking and issues parking tickets to cars without passes. The administrative team will follow up with students and parents of vehicles parked on campus without a pass.

Have a wonderful week.

Principal Stroud

Wellness Screening for 11th grade students

Mental health problems can develop in adolescence which is full of emotions for teens. Some of these emotions are actually mental illnesses. Depression is among the most common mental illnesses. Depression is treatable; however, it is a leading risk factor for suicide. To proactively address mental illness, Langley High School is providing a mental wellness screening and suicide prevention training as part of the SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program.

Wellness Screening- December 9, 2023

11th grade parents received an email on November 8th with details regarding this screening and an opt-out link should they wish to do so.

Please contact Tim Ready, school counselor, at tjready@fcps.edu with any questions.

Winter Break

As a reminder, winter break will be held Monday, December 23, to Friday, January 3. To help make sure you and your children have a restful break, we have asked that no homework be assigned during this time. Teachers may assign long-range assignments in the weeks ahead of the break, allowing students to practice time management skills, but no assignments will be due immediately following the break. We look forward to welcoming students back in the new year. Classes resume on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025. See the complete school year calendar.

Please note that Langley High School offices will be closed during the break.
