Indoor/Outdoor Recess Guidelines

Temperatures are below average this week, so we wanted to send this reminder to all our Hawk families:

Please assume your children will be outside for recess each day, even when it's chilly! FCPS policies only limit outdoor activities when the windchill dips into negative temperatures, so your child will likely have outdoor recess on most days. Your children should be prepared with a coat, hat, and gloves or mittens. It is also a good idea to write their names inside each item, the extra gear is more easily misplaced.

If your family needs assistance providing appropriate cold-weather garments, please call our office at (703) 924-4500 and ask to speak with our social worker, Mr. Herston Phillips.

If your child has a documented health condition that affects their ability to engage in outdoor activities when it's cold, please call the office and ask to speak with our clinic aide Ms. Debi Richardson. We need to establish or update your child's Health Plan so staff can support their health needs.

Thank you,
Seamus O'Connor, Assistant Principal
