1. Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey ONLINE. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets (in the upper right corner after logging in). Please complete it as soon as possible.
If you received a paper form, they should be returned by Monday, December 4.
Completing this form for EACH school-aged child in every household is important. Information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

2. Thanksgiving Luncheon
Our Thanksgiving Luncheon is tomorrow, Thursday, November 21st.
We will not be selling tickets on the day of the Thanksgiving lunch. ALL tickets should have been purchased in advance.
If you are attending, please remember to bring your license to sign in on our Visitor Management System.
There is a change in the lunch time for Kindergarten, 2nd and 5th grade only. All other lunch times will stay the same. Please see the lunch times below:
4th Grade Lunch: 11:00 – 11:30am
3rd Grade Lunch: 11:30 – 12:00pm
6th Grade Lunch: 12:00 – 12:30pm
1st Grade Lunch: 12:30 - 1:00pm
2nd Grade Lunch: 12:50 – 1:20pm
5th Grade Lunch: 1:10 – 1:40pm
Kindergarten: 1:30 – 2:00pm
3. Recognize Our VRES Staff Who Go Above and Beyond
The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees, specifically at Virginia Run!

4. Positivity Project at Virginia Run
Over these next two weeks, our school community will focus on the character strength of Gratitude. Gratitude means being aware of and grateful for good things that happen.
Gratitude is about feeling and showing thankfulness. It helps us see the good in others and in the world. People with gratitude are ready to appreciate and return kindness. Expert Robert Emmons says gratitude strengthens relationships because it makes us recognize how others support us.
Out of all 24 character strengths, gratitude is the single best predictor of individual well-being. It is linked to more energy, empathy, happiness, and optimism. The good news is that gratitude can be practiced and strengthened like a muscle. The more we practice it, the more benefits we get.

5. Viking Math Corner
Students in 2nd grade are working on their fact fluency (addition and subtraction) with numbers up to 20. Teachers use meaningful lessons and games that support students in developing efficient strategies to learn their facts. Check out the pictures below to see students in action!
6. Lexia Parent Night
Lexia Parent Nights: Curious to know more about Lexia Core5 and Lexia Power Up? Lexia will be offering Parent Nights throughout the 24-25 SY. The next session will be held virtually on December 5, 6:30-7:30. Register Here. More information regarding the Lexia Parent Nights can be found on Family Academy Site or in the translated fliers below.
7. Get 2 Green Parent Volunteers Needed
Do you have a green thumb? Are you willing to work with students on our Get 2 Green team at Virginia Run? Ms. Berg and Ms. Roberts are looking for 3-4 parent volunteers who are interested in taking care of our Virginia Run Garden.

8. Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
Students and staff greatly appreciate the support we receive from the PTA. All parents are encouraged to join the PTA and help make the 2024-2025 school year successful for all students.

Red Robin Spirit Night is THIS Thursday, November 21, 2024 at the Red Robin in Chantilly, 14450 Chantilly Crossing Lane. Show the flyer that was sent home today in the Wednesday folder or simply mention the fundraiser to your server. You may also order online at redrobin.com or on the Red Robin mobile app.
