You are invited to the Greenbriar East Thanksgiving Luncheon on Thursday, November 21, 2024!
Please make sure to RSVP by Nov.18th by clicking here so we can try to make appropriate accommodations. Please keep in mind LUNCH TIMES ARE DIFFERENT for our luncheon.
The cost of lunch for all guests is $4.75. You MUST use your student's lunch number to buy Thanksgiving Lunch. We will not accept cash/check on the day of Thanksgiving lunch. Prior to the Thanksgiving Luncheon put money on your student's MySchoolBucks lunch account to cover additional purchased lunches.
For the special thanksgiving lunch menu, please click here.
The lunch includes turkey and all the trimmings. We encourage you to participate even if you would prefer to bring a bag lunch for you and your child that day (no a la carte items available: pretzels, cookies, etc.). It is a wonderful time to share in the spirit of friendship and community.
We're looking forward to a wonderful celebration with you!
To help us celebrate GBE Night, Char'd Eats and Killer Tomato will join us on Thursday 11/21/24 from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Come on out to grab some delicious food from two local businesses before or during GBE Night!
If you have not completed FEDERAL IMPACT AID SURVEY yet you will find a printed copy in your students’ Wednesday Folder. Please fill this out for each student in your household, whether your family is federally connected or not. FCPS asks for 100% participation in this survey. Please complete the survey even if you feel it does not apply to you before December 4th, 2024. If you prefer to complete the survey online please click here. If you have any questions feel free to contact Araceli Nunez anunez@fcps.edu Thank you for your cooperation!
Wednesday, November 27 to Friday, November 29, schools and offices will be closed. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Classes will resume on Monday, December 2. Learn more about the first Thanksgiving.
Native American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and to acknowledge the important contributions of Native Americans. It is also a time to raise a general awareness about the unique challenges they have faced both historically and in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges.

-----------------------------------------
This month reminds us that families are children's first and most important teachers, advocates, and nurturers. Strong family support is vital to student well-being and success.
FCPS has many resources designed to increase engagement and partnerships with families while fostering academic success and social-emotional growth.
Additionally, every school has a family liaison who will welcome and orient families, and help them understand the school's culture, policies, procedures, and practices. They can help connect families to resources in the community. Family liaisons might also assist a family in transitioning to a new school and encourage family-school partnerships to help ensure their student's success and healthy development.
If you have questions or would like more information, ask your school office to connect you with your family liaison or visit FCPS’ website for a list of region representatives.
GBE SCA is partnering with Move for Hunger to help bring in food donations for families in our community. Please consider donating NON-PERISHABLE food items between now and November 21. For every item your student brings in, they will earn 10 points for their house! We will have a big donation push on November 21st and the 2nd Annual GBE Night!
Let's help our neighbors in need this Thanksgiving!
The Scholastic Book Fair is returning to GBE! Students will visit with their classes from November 18-22. There will be special evening hours for families on November 21 during GBE Night, Thursday, Nov. 21st, 6pm to 8pm.
Prefer a cashless book fair? Set up an eWallet for your student here: https://bit.ly/GBEeWalletFall24. Interested in volunteering with the Book Fair? Email Mr. Lotz at gblotz@fcps.edu or sign up at https://bit.ly/GBEFallBookFair24. We can't do it without you!
Missed our Fall Picture Day or want a retake?
We are doing retakes December 5th, 2024!
Any student wishing to have a retake should bring their original photo package to exchange for the retake image.
For families ordering a package, parents/guardians will receive a camera pass via email, after purchase is complete. This can be printed and brought to picture day. The photographer will photograph the printed camera pass along with the student. No worries, if you can't get it printed.
When pictures are returned to school, all students that purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student that was photographed but did not order a package, will receive a "Proof" of their picture that was taken on picture day. All proof packages offer parents a second opportunity to order prints.
All previous pre-paid packages and proofs will be making their way home TODAY through you student's Wednesday Folder.

Use PickUp Patrol to report absences
In emergencies, email or call the front office
This is a reminder to put your students' absence, arriving late, or leaving school early in Pickup Patrol (PUP). All default plans should be up to date. Make sure you change the default plan anytime you change your students' permanent dismissal. Emails and phone calls are no longer encouraged, except for emergencies. When you enter a change in PUP, it goes directly to your child’s teacher as well as our front office staff. Please remember to provide a reason for the absence, late arrival or early dismissal. Changes must be entered on PUP by 2:30pm each day. If you need assistance setting up your PickUp Patrol account, please reach out to the front office at 703-633-6400 or GreenbriarEastOfficeParentContact@fcps.edu.
