Ms. Seman's class adopted the class name "United" this year, and DC United gave them a shout out!  All of our 6th grade students received DC United water bottles and gear!

A Message from Ms. Kirkland

Thank you to all the families and staff members who made it out to our Annual Bingo Night last night!  We had so much fun, and so many winners!  Over 40 prize baskets were given out, and over 20 teacher experiences won.  We are so grateful to our PTO for organizing this event. The funds raised will help fund field trips for every grade level at Mount Eagle this year.

You might notice some new trees planted near our field when you stop by our playground.  Ms. Weber, our Get2Green Coordinator, helped us partner with Urban Forestry to plan 6 trees this fall on our property. Students from several grade levels were able to come out to help with the planting and learn about how important it is to plant trees in urban environments.

Finally, Monday will be our final Early Release Monday of 2024.  Unless you have made arrangements with the main office, your child will follow the same schedule and route as they did on the October Early Release Monday.

Next week will be a full week of school, followed by a short week.  Please be sure to send your children to school on Monday, November 25 and Tuesday, November 26.  We have full days of learning planned!

I hope you have a fabulous weekend, Mount Eagle!

Boundary Review

As a reminder, FCPS has started the process of reviewing school boundaries across the division. This important work will help the district better support student population growth, changes in school capacity, and evolving community needs. Community input is vital to this process. With that in mind, FCPS, in partnership with Thru Consulting, will be hosting a series of community meetings in each of FCPS’ six regions. Participants are encouraged to share their thoughts, ask questions, and learn more about the boundary review process.

Please visit FCPS’ website for meeting dates, locations, and other information. Sign up for the School Boundary Review newsletter for updates.

🍎 Make Every Day Count! The Importance of Attendance

As you plan upcoming trips and other family events, please remember the importance of sending your child to school every day. Review the FCPS School Year Calendar and try to plan any time away during breaks from school.

Children who show up for school regularly develop fundamental reading and math skills while building a habit of good attendance that will carry them into college and careers. Research shows that children who were chronically absent (missing 18 days or more) in kindergarten and first grade were far less likely to read proficiently at the end of third grade.

Learn how families can help form good attendance habits.
