A Message from Ms. Consolla
This past week, parents received their child's first quarter progress report. Because of our new reading & writing curriculum, the grades might look different than in years past. Now all standards are covered each quarter. However, students are not expected to master all of their grade-level standards until later in the year. By monitoring grades in each standard the whole school year, you can get a clearer picture of areas where they need to grow most, as well as their overall progress in literacy. If you haven't done so already, please take a look at the FCPS guidelines for elementary grading.
Parents can find a wealth of resources about our literacy instruction, assessments and supports at home here. Haley Witt, our literacy specialist here at Fort Hunt, is available to connect with you about specific questions you might have.
As always, thank you for your partnership with us at Fort Hunt.

School Boundary Review
As a reminder, FCPS has started the process of reviewing school boundaries across the division. This important work will help the district better support student population growth, changes in school capacity, and evolving community needs. Community input is vital to this process. With that in mind, FCPS, in partnership with Thru Consulting, will be hosting a series of community meetings in each of FCPS’ six regions. Participants are encouraged to share their thoughts, ask questions, and learn more about the boundary review process.
Fort Hunt is in Region 3. The meeting to learn and share input for our region will be on Monday, December 9 at 6:30pm at Mount Vernon HS.
Please visit FCPS’ website for meeting dates, locations, and other information. Sign up for the School Boundary Review newsletter for updates.
This past week, Grade 5 families had an opportunity to meet with Ms. Tatiana Fernandez, our new Spanish immersion teacher. Thank you to everyone for their patience through the hiring process. We're so excited Sra. Fernandez is now a member of the Fort Hunt community.
Federal Impact Aid Survey - DUE NOW
Complete your survey - click here!
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available in SIS ParentVUE under Online Packets (in the upper right corner after logging in). Please complete it as soon as possible.
For any families who have not completed the survey in ParentVUE, paper copies have been sent home with your student. Paper forms should be returned by Friday, November 22.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important. Information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
For more information, please watch this video on Impact Aid and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page.
