Thanksgiving Luncheon Friday, November 22 Join Us and Volunteer
Dear Churchill Road families,
Second quarter has been packed with activities.
- Fifth and sixth graders were actively engaged in team building field trips to Hemlock Regional Park last week.
- Veterans visited the building and shared with our students.
- Families, students and staff joined together last Friday for the first International Night in more than five years. Thank you to all who worked so hard to plan this event and ensure it was a success!
- This week, our kindergarten families celebrated Donuts with Grownups.
- Fourth grade is going to Jamestown and our sixth graders head to the American Art Museum for field trips.
- This Friday, November 22, we will hold our annual Thanksgiving luncheon. We hope you will be able to join us – and if you have a little extra time, volunteer to help out (details below)
- Our next 3-hour early release Monday is December 9. Look for an eNotify message later this week with details.
We hope you have a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving next week.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cherith Pierson-Barr
Thanksgiving Luncheon Friday, November 22 Join Us and Volunteer
If you are joining your child for lunch, please be sure that your child’s MySchoolBucks lunch account has sufficient funds to pay for both you and your child because we will not be able to accept cash or charge cards that day. This is the easiest way to keep the lunch lines short.
The cost for lunch is $4.75 for adults and $3.25 for students.
Check out the Thanksgiving Lunch Schedule to see when your child will be in the cafeteria.
We are still looking for volunteers to help in the cafeteria outside of your child’s assigned lunch time to either serve food in our kitchen or be a host in our dining room. All parent volunteers will get a free lunch! We would be very THANKFUL for your help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A0A45ACAB2AA7FC1-51858440-thanksgiving

Advanced Academic Program (AAP) Full-Time Services Referral Deadline is December 15
The Spring Full-Time AAP Screening is available to families of students in Grades 2 through 6. The deadline for submitting Referral Forms is December 15th. It is helpful to turn them in December 9th - 13th if not before, to allow AARTs time to confirm that all required parts have been submitted before winter break begins. Families will be notified if any additional required information is needed or errors are found.
You can find the Referral Form and the optional Parent/Guardian Questionnaire here:
https://www.fcps.edu/academics/advanced-academic-programs-aap/forms-advanced-academic-program-aap
You may email Full-Time referrals and optional materials (questionnaire and 2 one-page, front-side-only work samples from home) directly to Esther Lee eclee@fcps.edu; and Christine Plagata-Neubauer at cmplagataneu@fcps.edu in one email. You will receive a confirmation email within 1-2 business days.
Reminder: Impact Aid Forms Due
Thank you to all who have completed the Federal Impact Aid Survey. If you have not already done so, please complete the form via ParentVUE, under "Online Packets". ** Note: only the enrolling parent can fill out the Impact Aid Survey form.
Please note, if you have multiple children in Fairfax County Public Schools, please fill out a form for each child.
Questions? Contact the Churchill Road Front Office.
Character Strengths Focus
The next character strength our school community is focusing on is Gratitude.
Gratitude means being aware of and grateful for good things that happen.
To practice and encourage the character strengths with your child, please visit the Positivity Project’s P2 for Families (password: P2), where together you will watch a video, read a quote, and talk about the answers to three questions about these character strengths.
