Dear Haycock Families,

Thank you to the students and families that joined us yesterday to winterize and clean out Speedy's courtyard area.  It was a lot of work, and we appreciated the many hands available to assist.

If you have questions, please reach out to our Advanced Academics Resource teacher, Siobhan O'Hair at sfohair@fcps.edu.The deadline for referrals is December 15.  Please see additional information below.

We look forward to showing our appreciation this week for the staff members who prepare and serve our students healthy meals every day.  They are important members of our Haycock family!

Using crayons, colored pencils, or markers… create a design that might be chosen as the cover of our yearbook this year!! Your artwork must fit the theme of “SHAPING A BETTER WORLD” and should include lots of detail and color. To get started, stop by Mrs. Proctor’s room. All entries are due by Monday 11/25!

Spelling Bee

Haycock Spelling Bee Information (Grades 3-6)

The Haycock Spelling Bee will take place after Winter Break.  For students in grades 3-6 who are interested in participating in the Spelling Bee, please complete this form. Completing the form ensures that your child will be enrolled in the qualifying Spelling test which will take place in December.  The top 20 finalists from the spelling qualifier test will be invited to take part in the Haycock Spelling Bee.

Please complete the form by Tuesday, November 26th.     For any questions, feel free to reach out to Stephanie Garcia at sjessgarcia@gmail.com.

Original Works Parent Information

Last week, you should have received an Original Works flyer with your child’s artwork displayed on it. Please take a moment to read the instructions, by scanning the QR code. Once you scan the code, you will need to enter your child’s specific number/code (listed on the flyer.) After you have logged in, you can choose items to order, put them in your cart and make your purchases. All the items you purchase will have your child’s artwork on them, and all of the money spent comes back to Haycock. This is a school fundraiser. Thank you for your support!

Kiss and Ride Drop Off and Pick Up Safety Reminders

As the weather gets colder, we understand more families are using the Kiss and Ride line. To ensure a safe and smooth process for everyone, here are a few important reminders:

  • If you are dropping off or picking up your child by car, please use the Kiss and Ride line on the Westmoreland side of Haycock.
  • Please pull your car forward in the line as far as possible.
  • Please have your child enter and exit your car on the building side, not into the parking lot.
  • Please do not park and walk your child from Westmoreland Street or from the parking lot area.  This puts our students in unsafe situations.
  • Cars should not park in the lot, rather, remain in your car and drop your student off.
  • Follow the directions of the staff members and safety patrols stationed in the Kiss and Ride area, traveling in a one way direction and abiding by the signs located in that area.
  • Please do not park and leave your car in the Kiss and Ride line.  This blocks others trying to move-up in or exit the line.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and ensuring their day begins and ends on a positive note!

The FCPS CARES Program allows parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees who go above and beyond to help others and show they care about their students, colleagues, and the community. We invite you to submit a story below to acknowledge the great work of an FCPS employee or group of employees who should receive FCPS CARES recognition.
