Principals' Message
Dear TLES Families,
As Thanksgiving break approaches, we want to take a moment to share a few important upcoming events.
Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon: We are excited to welcome all families to our Annual Thanksgiving Luncheon on Thursday, November 21st. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your child's lunch time as we anticipate the following: the need for parking on our neighborhood streets (Arthur Drive would be best), navigating some additional travel time, and allowing for time to properly sign all individuals into the building. Thank you for your patience as our staff turns over massive crowds for lunch every 30 minutes! If you are still in need of purchasing tickets for this week's luncheon, please do so Monday through Wednesday. We highly encourage pre-purchasing tickets, otherwise significant delays are likely on the day of our luncheon. We hope to see you join us for one of our most wonderful community gatherings!
Canned Food Drive November 18 - December 10th: Please bring in a canned food item to support our canned food drive this holiday season! Students can bring in their items and drop them in the office or give them to their teacher. If you're coming to Thanksgiving lunch on the 21st please bring a canned food item to drop off in the office when you sign in! Food items will be distributed at the December 11th Capital Area Food Bank Distribution from 4:30 - 5:30 pm. If you are able to volunteer to help sort and distribute food please sign up at this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C084AAAAF28A3F9C16-53071065-canned
Reflections Celebration: Join us as we celebrate all participants of this year's Reflection Contest Wednesday November 20th in the Cafeteria. This year's theme was Accepting Imperfection and we are looking forward to sharing participants' work and celebrating their creativity!
A Quick Note About Attendance Thanksgiving is just around the corner! We hope you enjoy the break, and let’s continue to prioritize full school days until then all full school days around all holiday breaks. Attendance is key and does impact our school's accreditation. If any students have missed more than 10% of school days (at this point 5 days of school), the VDOE will label them as "chronically absent."
Monday, December 9: We have our 3rd Early Release at 12:35PM. Please remember that changes to dismissal on December 9th must take place by Wednesday, December 4th. Please communicate with BOTH the main office and your child's teacher about any changes to dismissal plans. Please also note that what you communicated prior to our first Early Release is the plan we will be following for ALL Early Release Days.
Thank you,
Ben Chiet, Sarah Buchanan & Ashley Vaccaro

📄Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available online in SIS ParentVUE. If you have not already filled out the form online, we will provide paper forms in November. Please be sure to return them by Monday, November 17.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important, because information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
Please watch this video and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page for more information.
FCPS Boundary Review Information
Boundary Review Info: As a reminder, FCPS has started reviewing school boundaries across the division. This vital work will help the district better support student population growth, changes in school capacity, and evolving community needs. Community input is essential to this process. With that in mind, FCPS, in partnership with Thru Consulting, will host a series of community meetings in each of FCPS’ six regions. Participants are encouraged to share their thoughts, ask questions, and learn more about the boundary review process.
Please visit FCPS’ website for meeting dates, locations, and other information. Sign up for the School Boundary Review newsletter for updates.
